Emergency Alerts - GOV.UK service
Robbie Garrett replied to Jo Farrow's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I am more referring to the part about people saying they don't want the government to control them. They already have laws in place since 9/11 and 7/7 that enable them to monitor, track and listen to what you are doing.- 129 replies

Emergency Alerts - GOV.UK service
Robbie Garrett replied to Jo Farrow's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I don't get what the big huh-ha is about with this. It's a cost-effective way for the Government to transmit messaging and safe lives etc, i.e. extreme weather (Cumbria Floods, Dec 2010 etc) Say a certain word, and your phone will be listened to for a very long time by GCHQ.....- 129 replies

A lot of it is also political. MetO staff, Agency Workers, Gritters, Street Workers all want pay rises. I've lived in a Labour Ward all my life and have never seen this level of incompetence from them by the lack of gritting or salt on the streets. Tomorrow is going to be carnage. But ultimately it makes the GOV look bad, again. Maybe potentially this is because it's a Sunday, but Feb 2009 was a Sunday and that was the the Amber Equivalent? What time was that Arome/Harmonie model? None of the TAFS really had SN in it till this afternoon, so most flights got caught out. Luckily though most flight crew took extra for the fog/mist which would cover the snow.
