So it is! I'd ignored that icon as I thought it was a "cast to tv" type thing lol, cheers Paul!

Just having a look around the new version and I like it. Something I use that is either missing or so well hidden that I can't find it is the radar opacity. There used to be an option to change that & I tended to use it a lot. Is it still there or making a comeback please?

Sat on Hayling Island beach watching the storm approach, it’s pretty.

Looks like flying ants are swarming again in central southern England
Indeed they are, seem to have taken to wing today.

So watching the current NW radar (and Sat24) - where are the cells that we're expecting to drift north to the UK at the moment? It's raining & muggy down here on the Hampshire coast but it doesn't feel like anything's gonna happen (please prove me wrong weather gods!)

Wouldn’t describe it as hot here but it’s noticeably more humid here now than it was.
Yeah, there have been periods of real heat but more than anything I noticed the cloying air, like it's not "fresh". Ah well, I'll be down the beach tomorrow night if this comes off

Wow, so many nimby posts in here, it's descending into a thread that doesn't warrant reading. For those of you still doubting the Amber warning, try this for size https://twitter.com/DaveThroupEA/status/1002241491522158592?s=04

That channel steamer is edging closer to the south coast once again. Surely not again ?
You mean "surely not again" that it will skirt along the Solent, happily missing both the mainland and the IoW? Yeah, that'll happen!

The wind in Salcombe this evening is utterly brutal. We are up near the top of town and facing towards the estuary, so the wind is blowing right into our direction. You can feel it getting through every single gap in the insulation and windows!
All indications are the wind is not going to die down at all, so if we do have heavy snow it's probably going to cause carnage with drifting. Thankfully the schools are closed already for tomorrow, personally I think they will be shut on Friday as well. But we will see!
Can you promise me pretty pics of Salcombe in the snow tomorrow please?

Minus 5 here tonight, feels much colder, just had to bring the pet rabbit in, should have done it a bit sooner really. Just got an email from the schools saying it will open tomorrow but if things get bad you will need to pick your kids up (seven mile drive on B roads) brilliant, prob good idea not to send them?
Our guinea pig has been in since Sunday as they're not supposed to be out in temps less than 15c according to the RSPCA.
All quiet on the south coast front. And I have to say "damn those French stealing that snow, not only do they steal our storms in the summer now they've got our fluffy stuff too!"

Friday downgrade for me according to MO although Thursday still looks promising. Feel on the verge of a wobble but we'll see.

@Bring Back1962-63 thank you so much for the detailed analysis! Look forward to your updates later today

Bright sunshine and blue skies here but with temp of -4.3. Have topped up bird feeders and replaced completely frozen water with fresh. Just spotted a very thirsty pigeon on it so please make sure wildlife has food and water if you can

Bugger me, it's -2.3!
It took until midnight to reach that last night.
It’s -2.3 / feels like -3.9 here already, wasn’t that cold when I went to bed last night either.

In an office full of "adults" going nuts at the little snow we've had. I'm trying to explain that it's nothing compared to what's due but they're already saying they should go home. Even sent them a picture of the snow clouds coming, then passing, then a new one coming but it is actually like talking to a load of kids!

Before anyone starts getting on their high horses about whether or not to pay attention to weather apps or not.. go back and read my posts. It was about how poor the BBC have been since changing weather data providers. Enough said.
Opinions are like a*rseholes - everyone's got one (& is entitled to one).

I'm enjoying the weather today, it's amusing me. Bright sunshine & warmth one minute, overcast and dandruff-like snowflakes the next. No, it's not a blizzard, nor is it settling, but there are flakes and that will do for me for now. Anything more is a bonus
