There is no UKWW storm forecast and no ESTOFEX forecast. And it’s April. For that reason I can’t get behind this event, and I’m out. [pulls money away]
Whilst that is true, not all weather forecast sources get everything right every time. I’m going to give it an hour or so before calling it (then promptly sleeping through the whole thing lol).

After a brief clear spell, the cloud has rolled back in, with the moon just about visible
Google weather says the current temperature is 11°c but it feels a lot warmer than that! Definitely feels plume like, so the camera is ready and waiting just in case
Was just thinking how warm it is outside tonight, haven’t got the patio heater on for a change.

As long as it’s not your own poop
At this rate it might be- it’s getting spookily close & no longer IC in the distance but visibly close CG. Might go hide under my duvet!

Sat outside here on the south coast and the thunder & lightning are pretty much constant. Mostly IC (which I guess is being missed by detectors), deep rumbles, crackling rumbles, it just keeps going. Makes a nice change to enjoy a storm instead of “grow one” only to watch it drift north without seeing/hearing a thing.
Just had a very close flash that lit up the garden and thunder that made the ground shake, I’m as happy as a pig in poop!- 2

Laughing at people calling this a bust - it’s still going!

That's exactly what they've just done. Revised warning for rain now in place:
"Spells of prolonged and often heavy rain will continue to affect parts of England today, before clearing from most areas this evening. 20-40 mm of rain will fall quite widely, with a few locations seeing 50-70 mm within around 12 hours - the wettest weather is likely to be over parts of East Anglia, the East Midlands and southeast England, as far west as Hampshire. Some thunder and lightning is also possible, most likely over parts of East Anglia and southeast England but heavy rain is the main hazard."
Yeah, finally.

I gotta ask, would it not be more responsible for the Met Office to replace the thunderstorm warnings with rainfall warnings? The rate this stuff is falling, and the time it’s taking too, must be causing more issues than the (low) possibility of a thunderstorm?

Has it even stopped raining since yesterday? Can’t believe it’s still going now (and looks like it’ll rain all day). Feel there’s zero hope of any convective fun for me today

Sat on Hayling Island beach looking east and seeing some lovely orange-pink lightning to our east

Sat in beach hut on Hayling listening to the sea & rain whilst watching Eastbourne storm on live webcam - lovely display going on there!

Keeping my eye on all of that as it will make or break my night! Itching to get in the car now and head for the Island coast, I'm going to be so restless until I do! Dinner needed first for fuel in the hope I'm going to be out snapping until the small hours (trying to remain ultra-positive here!)
Totally with you there. Am sat outside in Fareham (in oppressive still air) debating whether to head for Hayling Island beach now or hang on a bit longer. Argghhhhh the indecision is killing me almost as much as the headache.

Down the road from you also with an exploding head. I hate weather-related headaches!

Yes the West get homegrown decent storms, the SE usually get the imports. (Elevated)
Although sometimes the SW, Bath, Bristol, East Wales has a good knack of developing Elevated lightning shows. And for those smack bang in the middle of the West and SE (i.e. me!) we often get naff all (hence my refusal to get excited yet)

Am so trying not to fall for the hype. If it comes off it looks like I should see something from the coast, but today will be a day of radar watching before I let myself get too excited!

Am a bit closer to the coast than you are (also in Hants) and agree it is cool, my weatherstation is showing 14 degrees plus this rain is persistent and heavy. Not sure what tonight will bring.
