  1. Just started moderate rain here on the south coast..looks set for a few hours...no electrification despite the humidity so very boring...I wanted to sit in the garden after work!!:-(
  2. Wow .torrential rain flooded our road in minutes...now we are getting closer lightning strikes despite the bulk of the storm having gone over!
  3. Brief shower and rumblings..a small elevated thunderstorm popped up in the channel opposite where we are about 15 minutes ago...and it's getting warmer....
  4. Humid but quite cool here in the Forest now...watching the storms track away from us and towards Kent and the far south east. ..quite happy with last night's show including looking at the moon with lightning flashing all around it...never seen that before! Big family party tomorrow so hoping the storms keep away...
  5. Amazing!!!! Still flashing away to my East .went down to the coast at Milford and watched the storm come in. .loads of cgs one hit between us and the marine cafe! Continuous lightning and thunder...best storm here for a long time...scary but wow!!!
  6. Bit damp here..The humidity suddenly started to clear..gone a tad chilly in my garden now! Had a couple of spots of rain and the clouds are less thick ..
  7. Hot, sunny and breezy here in the New Forest...strimmed the *lawn* earlier but to knackered to finish the gardening...sitting in the sunshine!
  8. Just had a torrential shower..sun's back out now but watching the showers coming along the coast from the south west. .few sferics in amongst them so just maybe...:-)
  9. Nothing but a light shower here on the south coast..quite cool and breezy...nearest lightning to me was 47 miles which is a bit too far to chase for me..and there wasn't much activity there! Oh well...back to Wimblers. ..:-)
  10. Heavy rain moving across the low countries...was that sposed to be for us? Dry as a bone here after 1 shower yesterday and I think a little overnight rain..cool and breezy with racing clouds and sunshine at the moment...
  11. Nothing here in the forest as yet..think we are just slightly out of the firing line...:-(
  12. sttorm here in the New Forest...not massive but a couple of impressive cracks of thunder..now dying away, rain reducing and I think the suns about to come out!
  13. why did no one say there were going to be quite strong winds? its gusting here on the south coast to 35 miles an hour and has been windy all day..not very pleasant to sit in!
  14. Having a storm here in the new forest ...not loads of lightning. .the island seems to be getting most of it! The blitzortung app is worth having btw to se where strikes are in real time...ooh more thunder. ..:-)
  15. Are we here on the south hampshire coast the only ones to have just had a really exciting storm then? We were on the beach watching the lightning over the isle of Wight at around 9 pm...came home when it died down..then lying in bed at around 11 pm heard some thunder followed by all the lights going out and a massive thunder bomb right overhead...seriously scary! Rains stopped now but im still shaking....
  16. Thunder here too..very distant. Im asthmatic and having trouble breathing today....:-(
  17. Just found out that 80 out of 100 beach huts at Mudeford have been damaged beyond repair...or completely disappeared. One was a friend of mines..:-(
  18. The restaurant is mostly behind a seawall and a huge shingle bank..the beginning of Hurst spit.I reckon he thought the sea wouldn't breach the bank...however it breached it further down during the last storm and they've spent a week with diggers and suchlike repairing the bank!
  19. The scene outside the Marine restaurant in Milford on sea where 32 diners had to be rescued last night.....
  20. Reports that a restaurant on the seafront at milford was flooded and 32 people rescued..why on earth would a beachfront restaurant open when there were clear warnings of flooding?? Still howling wind here in the forest but thankfully no power cuts or damage...
  21. Well its been raining hard for hours down here in the New Forest...everywhere is flooded, and we arrived home to find the large storm ditch beside our house along the road had overtopped its banks and was filling up our garden rapidly! We spent over an hour trying to get the water to flow away from the house and managed to eventually get it flowing down the road and into the storm ditch further along...sadly that ditch is also overflowing and we now have two substantial rivers flowing across our Lane...with a lake forming too.In 8 years of living here it's never been this bad...and the radar shows more and heavier to come...its just started to get harder again...
  22. Its bloody scary here in the forest,...the noise is incredible..this is when I regret living in a wooden house with big trees all round it....
  23. Grey here...was -2 last night which was the coldest its been here so far this winter...really don't want any more rain here. Ah well..woodburners on time to snuggle up with me knitting and the darts later !
  24. Well I'm completely bemused by the weather...we go to the darts every January at the Lakeside in Frimley Green, and because we like to get there early to get good seats I've often frozen my t**s off standing outside at the front of the queue for hours without a coat so I can whizz in quick and grab the seats...this year for the first time in 4 years I didn't have to wear thermals and it was quite pleasant apart from a bit of drizzle! Now the models have backed right away from the possibility of cold at all I've given up, put me sledge away and am just grateful we won't get through all our wood for the burner and have to go foraging...mind you could do without the lakes all over the roads down here....
