  1. A few distant rumbles here today so can't complain. I'm feeling positive for the rest of summer for all of us, given trends seem to show High to our N/NE and Low over Portugal region. Could be good news for us thunderstorm lovers with plenty of opportunities for plumes, here's hoping.
  2. Interestingly there seems to be more showers developing behind the storm near Gloucester and tailing down to my E. Might catch the back end of something soon even if it isn't as strong as the storms further North.
  3. Another storm brewing over Yate by looks of it and could be direct hit this time. I'll see if I can capture anything decent with my potato phone.
  4. A couple of decent flashes and booms now from the storm crossing the Severn bridges now. Nice of it to follow the highway code.
  5. Quiet here at the moment but distant rumbles. Looks like it is passing to my South towards the Severn crossings.
  6. Now a couple of sferics N Bristol as well Sky looks dark to South but more murky looking than towers.
  7. Shower developing near Bristol on radar? That's already more promising considering I was expecting 0.
  8. Interesting, as most models keep main activity further NE away from us. Their rain warning for overnight last night was questionable though, so I'm not getting excited..
  9. Ahh didn't realise that, believe it was a low risk anyway and i'm not holding much hope tonight, but will see if radar shows any signs around midnight along S coast. More chances tomorrow again but don't think it involves W country much really.
  10. Ye most of them hinted at developments starting on S coast around/near IOW area 2300-0000hrs moving W/NW from there (rather than spreading in from N France). This is similar to the MetO rain warning overnight. But the same outputs have been quite wrong for me today with everything quite a bit further N/NE to what was shown. If nothing is developing by then I think I'll call it a night and just see if tomorrow brings anything.
  11. Too much of a NW trajectory again for my area I think. Might see some decent cloudscapes from the distance though if it keeps going towards Gloucester.
  12. Oh yes don't worry I'm used to storm disappointments over the years..and realise this is quite low risk for my area tonight with heavy rain most likely I just wait and see nowadays nowcasting, with model outputs as guidance.
  13. I also thought this but just checking UKV for example shows main storm activity developing tonight 2100hrs onwards stretching from S coast north-westwards towards Wales. So I don't think it is that reliant on daytime surface heating...fingers crossed anyway! Will see what updated charts show later. Scattered storms potentially breaking out for more eastern areas this afternoon where the sunshine is.
  14. Very humid and grey here. Seems to be some rain heading towards the W country soon. Not sure if this will inhibit developments later for my location as this was looking like the most promising day. Most of the models didn't show anything until late afternoon/evening.
  15. Can't travel today unfortunately as storms are firing off only 10-20 miles to my north around Gloucester! Hopefully more chances tomorrow/Mon.
  16. Just had a very close lightning strike from a heavy shower, North of Bristol
  17. Shame, was hoping for some more widespread snow, but at least it's nice and seasonal with crisp frost and sunshine at the moment. Hopefully more chances to come during this winter!
  18. Steering too easterly for us I think. Further showers expected later this evening but doubt they'll be as active as that stuff heading into the SE!
  19. Yea we always seem to be just to the west of the main action or when it does head towards us, it dies out then kicks off again after Gloucester
  20. We had some absolutely torrential rain in the early hours here and a few rumbles of thunder. Storms look good to the South again although it looks like W country will be a bit too far west this time Decent for late October to be honest!
  21. Had a couple flashes but seems lightning activity has 'split' and died out over us as usual.
  22. Well it is quite dark and finally some rain, but lightning activity looks poor unless more gets going later as it slowly progresses.
  23. Yea I have been watching this. The AROME model looks good for our area, but I'm not sure how accurate it usually is for thunderstorms.
  24. Very grey here this morning so not sure if this will hamper things for later, but still feeling a little humid. Hopefully things develop later this afternoon as most of the models looks decent for the W country, but as always it will come down to watching radar developments and the skies.
