Hope you are okay Lauren despite what has happened to you! Probably not the best time to say it, but happy new year, I hope you can sort things out or find the strength to start afresh.

  2. Well this is pretty much the worst Christmas ever.

Your right, Thunderbolt_! It's very similar to depression, I've been through it and it somehow makes you stronger when you start to come out of the other side. :)

Any the wiser as to why he thinks you no longer have a future? Hopefully he wasn't seeing anyone else.

  3. People give young people a bad rap, but when I dropped my handbag and it's contents all over the floor today, not one person stopped to help. In fact a few people literally stepped over me, apart from 3 different teenagers on their own who offered to help.

I work with them. Most are wonderful human beings, the minority of antisocials get the headlines - sometimes justifiably.

As do I Spike most are thoughtful, kind, misunderstood little humans. So many great kids get no credit.

I've just been down to the village shop and there is a beautiful Christmas tree in the square. Everywhere shaded is still covered in white frost, including the tree. Very seasonal - except it's 14c in the sunshine!

  7. Someone, please send help! Christmas cooking shows are on TV all today. I can't peel my eyes away. I fear I may gain several pounds just watching!

    1. Spikecollie

      Spikecollie

Just watch, but don't feel you have to keep up! It's TV made to make you feel inadequate. I'm a case in point, I eat only raw sprouts - I can't eat them or cabbage cooked so the recipes are wasted on me. I've snarfed so much raw veg on Christmas Day that I eat very little else. I hate turkey and ham and Christmas pudding, so the raw veg is great. Low calorie too...

    2. Lauren

      Lauren

Oh, no. I'm a good cook and I love to eat. But these shows are so addictive you end up wanting to make it all. Plus I think you gain weight just by watching!

  8. Was Patricia not as destructive as it should have been mainly because it hit more rural areas?

well it rapidly lost its potency as it made landfall the wind speeds were not as bad as feared

  9. Right, that's it. I've now moved on to the thickest winter jumper stage.

  11. Look for the helpers. There are so many more people with love in their hearts than hate.

  12. Ether Michael Fish is now a bus driver or he's got a doppelganger.

  13. Anyone know the best place to get a good, fake Christmas tree?

The hotels will be alright, but there's a lot of very poor people in the area who live in little more than a shack.

Yeah this lurgy is bad and covers all bases from upset tums to chest infections!!! I bet if you took a sats reading of the oxygen content of your blood you'd be a tad light? If you are struggling to take up the air you breathe then you end up exhausted ( like being up a high mountain and not getting enought O2?)

  22. I really try not to body shame, but for the last 3 hours the two morbidly obese colleagues next to me have been going on about how they need to lose weight and wondering why they are fat. Perhaps the 2 family sized bags of crisps, bag of sweets and 2 kingsize chocolate bars you've just worked your way through might be a clue. I mean fine if you want to be like that, but quit moaning about it to me when it's really bloody obvious.

Thanks Lauren! The constant hunger was a pain at first but I think my body has just got used to it now. No snacks, no sweets, no fizzy drinks, rarely drinking alcohol - that's half the battle won right there. I'm in no immediate rush to lose weight so I'm fairly laid back about it :)

Passed first time with 3 minors after a total of 20 hrs driving time :p A month after passing got tested big time on a single lane dual carriageway overtaking a lorry when my ECU failed and lost all power and was capped at a speed level with the lorry. Managed to avoid a head on collision with a bit of smart thinking!
