  1. A maximum of 25.2c here today made it the warmest August 24th since 1990 when 25.8c was recorded, and the warmest day in late August since 2005 when the max' was 26.3c on the 31st. The forecast suggests tomorrow could be even warmer. The record for the 25th is 23.8c in 2000 so that looks very likely to be broken.

  8. Although this summer, looking at current model output, is unlikely to be the wettest, or even second wettest on record here ( the record currently held by 2004 with 423.4 mm ) it is the first one since I began keeping records in 1963 when each of the three summer months has recorded more than 100 mm of rain. 9 previous summers have managed two months with more than 100mm over the same period. This summer won't record the most rain days ( 0.2 mm or more) either. There have been 50 so far compared to 65 in 2012, 64 in 1985 and 62 in 1980.
  9. Apart from a few spots of showery rain around 1400 g.m.t it's been a dry and fairly warm day with sunny intervals. At 1700 g.m.t Temp; 16.9c Max today; 19.2c Min last night; 10.2c Grass min; 8.5c Rainfall from 0800-1700 g.m.t; Trace Sunshine today so far; 5.34 hrs Mean wind speed; 12 mph SW Highest gust today; 25 mph SW at 0818 g.m.t 7 oktas As, Cu and Sc Vis; over 80 km.
  10. I agree, Mushy. The perception of a 'washout' summer is as much to do with frequency of rain, and absence of sunshine to dry things up between spells of rain, as it is to do with the amount actually falling. The summer of 1965 felt much more of a 'washout' here than this one due to persistent dull and cool weather, even though the rainfall total was much lower than in 2019.
  11. A couple of hours of mainly light rain yesterday evening, clearing by midnight. The rest of the night was dry and mainly cloudy. Mainly cloudy so far this morning too. At 0800 g.m.t Temp; 12.2c 24 hr max; 16.9c 24 hr min; 10.2c Grass min; 8.5c Rainfall in 24 hrs ending 0800 g.m.t; 0.6 mm Mean wind speed; 16 mph SW 7 oktas As, Ac, St and Sc Vis; 25 km.
  12. A dry day with sunny spells. At 1700 g.m.t Temp; 15.7c Max today; 16.9c Min last night; 9.0c Grass min; 4.8c Rainfall from 0800-1700 g.m.t; 0.0 mm Sunshine today so far; 7.51 hrs Mean wind speed; 6 mph W/NW Highest gust today; 26 mph W at 1039 g.m.t 6 oktas Sc, Ac and Cu Vis; 80 km.
  13. A dry night with clear periods. Clouding over after dawn as an area of showers moved east a few miles to the north of here. At 0800 g.m.t Temp; 12.3c 24 hr max; 17.9c 24 hr min; 9.0c Grass min; 4.8c Rainfall in 24 hrs ending 0800 g.m.t; 1.0 mm Mean wind speed; 12 mph W 7 oktas Cu and Ac Vis; over 80 km

  15. If I had any unfluence over the weather at all, and I'm sure you're all very thankful I don't, I'd pay quite a large amount of money for a chart like this to verify.
