Still just rain where I looked before

That's the Rain warning for Wales ...  go up to Scotland and hit the yellow warning for wind , expand the details .. covers the whole of the UK including the lovely Wiltshire

We were discussing the shortcomings of the MetO Warnings Graphic in the Wales Regional thread earlier

Its this yellow wind warning that covers the UK

Not very clear is it .. you have to locate the yellow warning for wind graphic over Scotland ..which covers the whole Uk ...   hmmm

  3. We (Cymru) will probably see the strongest of the winds Sunday evening circa 80mph for the usual exposed spots, perhaps a tad more for those in extreme exposure to the Sw'erly flow (Aberdaron, Capel Curig, Mumbles etc)  as Isha tracks NE to the Nw of Scotland Sunday evening,  with core central pressure around 945-950mb, Isha's Cold Front will be interesting

Cant see justification in the models for the 3 day warning event they have put out? Especially for my patch.

Are they perhaps seeing an increased risk of showery activity?

More than likely yes ..down to this "potential"  feature Tuesday into Wednesday

What a wonderful winter's day! Clear blue skies, a hint of warmth from the sun, and a crisp feel to the air. Perfect for a lunchtime walk.

    Enjoy 😊

Cold and cloudy further north and west, at least the wind has eased a tad from yesterday

Not a rain lover, seen way too much in the last two months , but a complete hater of cold. Was painful to walk outside yesterday and as someone who’s suffered from bad back injuries the less cold the better. The difference between 2C and 10C is huge.

understandable > mild and rain being the lesser of the two evils for you mate

No worries at all, I knew it was just banter / jest! I just find the AQ rankings/stats interesting haha

But yes, definite pleasant change 👍

I was seconded to Hemel H from 2010 to lockdown supporting major construction projects in London and the South East,  very much helping the Capital to a cleaner clearer future,  shame the weather can't play ball with the game plan (at least some of the time)

    Touche, haha.

Well, its not quite Anglesey, admittedly...

However, London is actually rather fair in the air quality rankings of cities globally-speaking. The only other European capitals that surpass it for air quality are Budapest, Amsterdam and Helsinki. The second of which use bicycles as the primary mode of transportation, followed by trams, and the latter of which is the capital of a country whose entire population is 3 million less than the population of London. As for Budapest, well, fairplay to them!

Regardless, I was quite surprised by this when I found it out, and it's quite impressive IMO when factoring in London's size and scale. Singapore is the only other proper urban 'metropolis' that is above London on the AQ rankings. The other cities are - for the most part - the expected culprits in Australia, Canada, and rural USA.

Sorry mate my bad and p-poor eyesight .. should have been a winky , corrected now, I was n't having a dig
Just pleased you are seeing something much more pleasant than grey clag

I have become accustomed to 'rain not showing on radar', now I have cloud not showing on satelite.

interesting mate .. something I have observed also , I can understand the reasons for certain types of "rain" not being picked up on dop radar , but you would have thought Satellite imagery would "see all"

I have to cross check with various websites .. a little like we do with model analysis and looking for cross model agreement

Does this fair better , where by you can view different cloud levels?

What is the temperature? I had an air frost last night (not been many of those this winter) and it’s currently 4°C and overcast here now.

Peaked around 7c at the front in the shade .. but at the back in the "sun trap"   the mercury peaked around 14c in full sun
Beeb has us a 6c and "feels like" 4c

Come inside to put some warmer gear on as the sun has dropped behind tree line now ,  back down to 7c , still it was pleasant enough to feel some warmth from a winters' sun

  11. Another glorious day here wall 2 wall sunshine and not a breath of wind
Finished my 2023 garden "cut back"  now in perfect conditions, and I have to say .. its the 7th of Jan and the earliest ever for a shorts and tee day working at the back garden , sun trap facing south ,  front (facing north)  which is perma-shade through winter, my car (EV) appears to be still covered in moisture , it was a light frost at dawn.
My 2022 cut back (kindling)  is now bagged up (20x5Kg)  ready for delivery to those in need in my locale later (foc of course).Still some way to go to achieve net zero carbon.

  12.  A glorious "winters day" today, very much spring - like ,  daffs are making an appearance as they do here in Jan.  Glad to see the back of the protracted period of incessant wind and rain.
Sunny, light northerly flow and a warm sun to boot , perfect for outdoors activities, in my case , the continuation of gardening work.
"make hay whilst the sun shines" as "they" say

Yes the GH isn't so strong but it isn't the be all and end all. If the above doesn't keep the interest then nothing will

A fair point mate , for me interest is somewhat on the uptick now, especially the distinct NH profile very similar to early March 2023 (post SSW1/2) cold shot and "snow event" (for some), and we are in early Jan , so could produce something noteworthy over the coming week or two +
