  1. A lovely day - plenty of sunshine and the wind has finally buggered off. MP-R similar to March when Madrid was having lots of rain, sleet and even a bit of snow. It’s not been an amazing spring anywhere in Western Europe this year. Eastern Europe has been very warm though.
  2. If we lived in a country with hot summers then I’d agree - in places like Florida people are over the heat and humidity by September and are looking forward to something a bit cooler - but I think most people in this country are happy to see summer-like weather continue for as long as possible, simply because we don’t have super reliable summers in the first place. We need to make the most of whatever warm weather we get before the inevitable descent into gloom and darkness begins.
  3. April 2021 would have made a good March.
  4. 2013 was indeed a good summer - July was phenomenal and August was decent. June was a bit poor but otherwise I would take a repeat of 2013.
  5. The next week looks pretty good. Would prefer it to be slightly warmer but I won’t complain.
  6. Scorcher yeah the Met office forecast here shows no rain after today. The BBC always seem to show rain for some reason.
  7. raz.org.rain it would be a warm-summer Mediterranean climate like Seattle or Portland, as opposed to the hot-summer Mediterranean climates like Athens or Seville.
  8. Scorcher even if our population started declining we would still need significant investment in our infrastructure to make up for the last 50 years of under-investment.
  9. From the BBC: The Met Office predicts that by 2070, winters in the UK will be up to 30% wetter than they were in 1990 and that rainfall will be up to 25% more intense. Summers will actually get drier overall – with more heatwaves and droughts – but when rain does come it will be heavier, 20% more intense than it was in 1990. Wetter winters always likely as I mentioned recently, but it looks like summers might actually get drier. You’d hope with wetter winters that our reservoirs would be full enough to prevent water shortages during hotter, drier summers. That might require our government(s) to properly invest in our ageing infrastructure though. I also personally wouldn’t mind wetter winters in exchange for warmer, sunnier and drier summers. That’s basically a Mediterranean climate.
  10. Exceeding April’s average monthly rainfall in the first 9 days is pretty depressing. Having so many 100mm+ months is also ridiculous.
  11. Scorcher yeah, rain overnight resulted in pretty sodden grounds at Headingley on Friday. It’s been dry during the day though thankfully so at least play could start eventually. I don’t mind rain as much if it mostly falls at night.
  12. WYorksWeather yeah, it seems like people have become really reactionary regarding our weather recently. We get a period of warm, dry weather like 2022 and suddenly drought is the new normal - now we’re apparently going to become a rainforest or something. I think people need to relax a little. As far as I’m aware experts have always suggested that winters will most likely become wetter. The other 3 seasons are less certain imo.
  13. Well the past 2/3 days have been perfectly pleasant imo. A bit windy but that’s it.
  14. Summer8906 It was quite sunny for most of England today and forecast to be mostly sunny tomorrow too so I wouldn't call it a waste. The only 'bad' thing will be the wind.
  15. Quite a big temperature spread across the UK today, as well as a big difference in conditions. It's 17C with sunshine here in Leeds but only 6C with rain in Glasgow & Edinburgh.
  16. Really depends on the definition of cold and mild, as mentioned above. At this time of year, I'll take 11C and sunny over 16C and rainy. 11C feels pleasant in sunshine in early April. I'll take 16C and rainy over say 1C and snowing though. Stockholm and Helsinki both recorded ice days this week with snow. I would absolutely hate that in April. Northern Scandi has been even choler with temperatures in Northern Sweden and Finland falling below -30C, I wouldn't want that however sunny it might be!
  17. 16C with a dew point of 11C. Sunny spells and breezy. Feels pleasant. More of these days please!
  18. Summer8906 nah, I’ll take mild and wet over cold and snowy at this time of year. I really don’t want to see anything wintry again until November. I’d definitely take cold and dry though. Not too cold though!
  19. SunSeanthe Met Office currently showing Saturday to be sunny spells and 18C here, so not wet or overcast. After Thursday it actually looks pretty decent.
  20. Anyone on here still wanting this kind of weather?
  21. Turned out to be a nice day here despite the Met Office automated forecast showing cloud all day. Currently 14C and partly cloudy.
  22. Summer8906 August 2022 had 13mm here while August 1995 had 8mm, so 2022 was only very slightly wetter. Don't know about sunshine though. It was certainly a much better month than August 2003 in this part of the country.
  23. Some big temperature contrasts in Europe today. Winter returns to Scandinavia with snow & a maximum temperature of 0C in Stockholm, while in Athens it's a balmy 25C with sunshine. The UK pretty much in the middle of both.
  24. The Met Office were forecasting cloud today but it’s mostly sunny instead. On another note, it’s a chilly 8C & raining in Madrid at 4pm on the last day of March. The weather there has been worse than here this past week. Certainly rotten luck for any holidaymakers going to Iberia (but given the drought situation there, they might actually appreciate the cooler rainy weather). Central and Eastern Europe seem to be the only places with warm weather in Europe right now.
  25. WYorksWeather I’ll take warm and wet if it’s of the thundery variety with brief downpours instead of prolonged frontal rain.
