  1. semi regular flashes visible in the channel, more local stuff has moved to my North
  2. or West, If it was from Chichester, and not the stuff in the channel. edit. wind also dropped. yesssss, more lightning
  3. YES LADS (AND LASSES) LIGHTNING WITNESSED TO THE SOUTH WEST.
  4. Excellent. I'm not too bothered about getting a direct hit in Worthing, so long as there's action within a 15 to 20 mile radius. Heading to the beach shortly!
  5. Today is the 3 year anniversary of the best storm I witnessed. It nailed Eastbourne/Hastings head on. Not expecting anything of that variety tonight, it'll probably be a kent clipper or a bust, but you never know
  6. Heat and humidity gone. Wind up. Milky skies galore. I will not hold my breath for anything other than rain later....but the batteries are on charge just in case.
  7. Is it worth charging up the camera battery in West Sussex? I am conflicted
  8. It's all gone quiet here, bar for some rain earlier. I have to give it to the French, ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶'̶r̶e̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶g̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶a̶t̶ ̶m̶u̶c̶h̶, ()but they're certainly world class at hogging the majority of storms, and throwing the rubbish towards the UK, hampering our own chances of storms.
  9. tragically this event could turn out to be an inland affair...and as I don't drive, I might gamble and get the train to Gatwick.... or gamble and stay at home in the off chance the action kicks off further south
  10. After yesterday's damp squib, I am expecting just heavy rain this evening and overnight, with a few distant rumbles mixed in, maybe..... Feels quite sticky outside when the sun is out and the wind isn't blowing
  11. it's been raining here for hours now, but the pavements sre barely damp. Skies definitely have that thundery look
  12. Two contrasting forecasts from the BBC for this evening and overnight. The national forecast has only a few showers developing, but the local one has a rash of thunderstorms/torrential rain deluging a wide area of the region
  13. Are the storms overnight going to be predominately elevated or surface based? It is now completely overcast on the Sussex coast
  14. Nice surprise earlier to hear thunder! Torrential convective rain was the main feature, followed by hail. At least the hosepipe ban is off the cards. For now.
  15. It was mostly out in the channel followed by a direct hit towards the Eastbourne - Hastings area. I was on Worthing Pier watching the lightning for a good 2 hours.
