  1. 66m and above. I believe you're at around 65m, so sorry, but rain for you.

I'm actually not i'm higher by about 20m because i am a few fields west of macosquin about 5. 6c now expecting it to maybe be frosty in the morning depending on how quick the cloud clears looking forward to a day of showers and sunshine with temps about 4c tomorrow perheps some snow in the really heavy showers we'll see, is there going to be alot of downdraft tomorrow?

  2. I can see were you are all coming from with dew points but if the upper air is that cold that shouldn't be able to happen.. and whats really annoying me is how the -10 upper air gets the whole way accross the atlantic which is far warmer than us but when it hits us it breaks up what is that all about???????? We should be feeding it.

Really mild now can see it getting upto 9c or something today;.:nonono::cray::(

Can't wait to thursday. Met office say snow on hills tomorrow hmm maybe lower levels too we will see.

    Current conditions

    Temperature: 5c!! AGGG

    Humdity: 82%:bad:

    Wind: 5mph sw.:bad:

    Weather: cloudy

Really can't wait to the weekend... i'm beginning to think is there any point in looking for winter anymore i'm starting to look for warm sunny weather now because this weather is getting useless everytime the cold weather even tries to come the mild crap comes!:excl:

  3. You over confidence will be your undoing.

Just a quote from Dragonball GT. But it applies here. Your so over confident that your location is so cold, you may as well be living in Antarctica. Even then you will be moaning that there are penguins eating your snow messing it up or something.

There are other factors you know. Thickness and upper air temperatures are two of the factors, but just because we have those two factors here doesn't mean that it will snow. I also wasn't comparing your location to mine, it's marginal away from high ground.

You WILL however see some convective snow showers. They won't lay for long I bet though, it will be an evaporative cooling sort of day, a very interesting one, and the sort of setups I love. Seeing beefy showers moving in from the sea. Brilliant!

    Good luck any how.

Yes so its good enough to snow dunno what you were talking about earlier, we have 4 or 5 possible days it could snow, we have wednesday night, thursday, saturday, sunday and monday of the week after that.... i think that i will see snow at least one of them days mostly thursday and according to some other folk there is gonny be some heafty showers on thursday the question is will the showers be the type you get in spring where they drop the temp quick?? if so it would be good because if temps are 3c before the shower and this occurs then the temp could rocket to -1c or -2 and it wouldn't take much to lie, but we need that to happen for it to lie.. Looks like an exciting weekend next week will be up late them nights! And since the wind is coming from the north and north west on thursday i should get the brunt of the showers again!! Yippi! Canny wait! (probably all downgraded now)

  4. The hill behind you that you talk of is your best chance of snow, but for your level you will prob not even see sleet. Also the GFS has downgraded on cold today compared to yesterday.

No offence but are you people blind , 518dam and -8c uppers will definitely see snow what are you all talking about its starting to do my head in! I had snow today with -2c uppers... and last night as well infact. And no it hasn't -5c uppers or below for ni and scotland from thursday and Saturday and even wednesday! Its downgraded for southern ireland not ni, i hate it when people say its downgraded when its downgraded in their area not my area!

  5. Liverpool has been below -11C this winter.

Crosby has been below -18C this winter.

I have been below -11C this winter.

I've looked at the charts, and I am doubting whether they have over estimated those uppers. I know the wind is Westerly and Canada have had a very cold winter, but I still can't see much potential away from high ground.

There are many other factors to consider as well as thickness and upper air temperatures.

12z has just blown any chance of snow now IMO.

Dewpoints and surface temperatures are the wrong side of marginal. They are above 0C.

See why I said this event will be for higher ground?

Well the gfs is clearly wrong there will definitely not be positive uppers with -8c uppers and 518dam that isn't going to happen. Also you are not viewing the charts for the north you are looking at your own area and comparing it too mines it is marginal for you it isn't marginal for me at all. The temps will be lower no way will it be 3c with them uppers more like 1 or 2 at best. That was even outlined in the model output.

    screenshot20110130at171.th.png

As you can see your area is marginal my area isn't which is what i'm trying to say... also there are several chances of snow next week thursday , saturday and sunday and maybe tomorrow we shall see.

  6. You live approximately 120 miles further north, are closer to the sea than Runcorn, and have an elevation of approximately 65m above seal level. I'd say your weather would be very similar and can't see any reason at all why you'd be so much colder than anywhere else.

Because i'm not on the west coast and i am further north, as well as that i am not exposed i have got alot of land west of me and a high hill so the sea air doesn't effect me as much in an westerly wind, it is always colder here my brothers girl friend lives in liverpool and everytime she comes here she says there is more snow here and its always colder here, sometimes she even says its raining there, in december she was laughing at my brother when he said we had over a foot of snow and they had none! I don't think liverpool has even got below -9c this winter, stations here have got about -15c (i got -16c).

  7. Look at this also that is 519dam that would certainly bring snow!

    screenshot20110130at131.th.png

    Update on current conditions:

    Temperature: 3c

Weather: Cloudy with some small snow flakes floating about

    Wind: 3mph , little.

    Humidity: 77%

    Dew point: -0.6c.

It is trying to snow here it looks like its snowing proper out towards castlerock and portstewart (all white and can't see them) maybe i'll get some!

  8. Sorry. You'd be lucky to get 0.00002 mm of snow. Don't get your hopes up, it won't snow. It's a high ground event. By high ground, I don't mean your location, I mean hills and mountains.

Thursday is still FI atm, so that precip will change, if not dissapear.

Sorry i don't live in the north west of england right beside the sea i live in the north of ni on the edge of a hill which gives me alot more advantage over you and the last time i checked the uppers were -8c for me they are only -5c for england but even with that you can get snow heck you can get snow with -2c uppers. Infact i got snow last night with -2c uppers! Look at the following chart.

    screenshot20110130at144.th.png

Dunno how yous all think thats marginal!

  9. So excited for thursday looks like a band of snow coming wednesday night and then snow showers all thursday and snow on thursday night would love like 20cm mm...rolleyes.gif

    Current conditions

    Temperature: 1.0c

    Humdity: 75%

    Dew point: -2.8c.

    Min temperature: -1c..

    Weather: sunny.

A frost tonight again and then warming up on monday night and cooling down on tuesday and warming up on wednesday and then major cool down on thursday mmm!!

  10. Probably become too mild for snowfall tommorow night, winds will start to pickup from SW, so milder air starting to filter in and maxes of 5/6/7c through to Thursday. Could be cool nights if the timing is right and we don't have many evening fronts....but overall it'll in general be an average week next week, with the colder 36 hour period bringing down those milder first half temps.

Awk rite so a mixed bag any sign of proper cold not this 2c crap?? Looks really good for me on thursday, only problem is the wind will probably be w and the showers will hit donegal and i'll miss out i got it really good this december when the winds were Northernly, i got the brunt of every single shower without fail ended up way a foot and a few inches while places 10 miles away such as ballymoney had absolutely nothing pure green fields and i'm not joking, at one point Coleraine town which is 3 miles from me had no snow while i had about 5 inches!! ohmy.gif Never seen anything so weird. Looking forward to thursday hopefully its similar temps to today so i can get a covering and the hopefully the showers are frequent and really heavy!! Want 10cm mmmm....

    Current conditions:

    Temperature: 0.5c

    Weather: Cloudy.

    Humdity: 85 %

    Wind: None.

expecting a wee frost tonight maybe a strong one if this stubborn cloud clears off..girl_devil.gif

  11. An alright day today got some snow about 20 minutes ago!!! :yahoo: Nice to see haven't seen it in an age, thursday looks good for snow some beefy showers mmm!!

    Current Conditions:

    Weather: Cloudy

    Temperature: 1c and dropping.

    Humidity: 80%

    Dewpoint: -1.9c

    Max today: 2c.

    Min Today: -4.5c.

    Wind: 0mph.

Expecting another frost tonight was good to see snow started about 6.20 and lasted to 6:50 it was snizzle the odd time large flakes youd have to be out in it to see it!

  12. Next week should be pretty wet Kimmirut.

Faxes show a cold front pushing through on Sunday evening but as a dieing feature, so heaviest precipitation in the West, lightest/none at all in the East. Shouldn't receieve much from this front.

Monday we see 2 fronts pushing through aswell. Tuesday and Wednesday also look to be pretty wet with more fronts and a developing front/trough. Also a chance maybe of some hail showers on Tuesday with the 528 line over and around NI with -3/-4 850's for a brief 3-6 hour window.

Also, Thursday - Friday, we see a 36 hour period of -5/-6 850's over Northern, Western and Eastern parts of Ireland, with 500hpa around 528-534, chance here of wintry precipitation should the forecast be correct according to gfs120 hrs out.

So not an outright boring week ahead, things starting to liven up again from the Atlantic with some potent enough cold on the back end of pushing through LP's to produce something wintry. Cold Zonal is best known for producing surprise snowfall, when you wake up and either see a little dusting or a cm/two.

Ok so pretty mixed with temps about 3c most of the time yea?? Thats what i'm getting from the 7 day forecast some sleet on snow on sunday (rain coming tomorrow?) monday and tuesday and the rest of the week ,we might actually get that all snow tomorrow because dew points here are low enough right now it is -6c ,-1c hmm what you think about tomorrow?

  13. Looks like cold temps are back after two or three days of 8c, glad because 2c and cloud with frost at night is far more interesting than a constant 8c!!

    Current condtions:

    Max temp: 3.3c.

    Min: -0.5c.

    Weather: cloudy.

    Current Temp: 1.5c.

    Humdity: 70%

    Dew point: -3c.

    Wind: 0mph

Isn't it typical that when we have negative dew points it doesn't rain i've had 3c most days all of this month and i've hardly ever had a negative dew point its getting annoying..

Btw about the rain is it going to rain at all this week?? As i would like to see some snow i haven't seen it in ages because its been so dry and since temps aren't going to get above 3c from today onwards it would be nice to see some snow.

  14. Was the same as yesterday maxed out at 3c again..

    Current Conditions:

    Temperature: 1.0c and dropping.

    Weather: foggy with drizzle.

    Min temperature: -1.5c.

    Max temperature: 3.0c.

    Humidity: 98%

Fog will probably turn into freezing fog depending on how low the temperature drops... it looks like the "cold" air in the valleys is holding out to the mild air was 7c on the mountain this evening looking forward to the cold (proper) coming back on thursday.

  15. Similar weather today as yesterday looks like we are holding out on the mild air this time until next thursday on the next cold spell with the help of mist and fog.:p

    Current Conditions:

    Temperature: 2.8c

    Max Temperature: 3.0c

    Min Temperature: -1.5c

    Weather: Misty and VERY cloudy!

Looking forward to a frost again, these mild spells don't seem to be mild anymore they used to get upto about 10c now they struggle to get above 5c!:p

  16. The weather has been so weird lately its 6c on top of the mountain and its 1c down here! shok.gif How weird is that at times like this i'm happy i live low down or i'd be in that muggy mild crap.. today was the first day that wasn't below 0c since tuesday...

    Current Conditions:

    Temperature: 1.0c

    Max today: 3.2c.

    Min today: -3c.

    Wind: None.

    Weather: mist.

    Humdity: 95%

The mist will probably end up turning into freezing fog as the night goes on look forward to some hoar frost coating everything tomorrow hopefully! EDIT Skies are clearing can see the moon but the fog is getting thicker temp just dropped to 0.7c yippi!!! clap.gif Depending on how foggy it gets we might get another ice day again.

  17. Won't be long before this high becomes quite messy for most now, been cloudy all morning here and it's keeping temps up rightly. Could be a miserable few days in store before the HP moves West and then returns again.

Yes i've noticed that it was gorgeous yesterday then at about 2 the cloud came and stayed to about 11 and left now we are in a gorgeous sunny day except its hazy and misty

    Current conditions:

    Temperatures: -1.1c

    Weather: Misty.

    Wind: None.

    Cloud Cover: None

Great day might manage an ice day.

Edit: temp has climbed above 0c for the first time since tuesday got upto 2c but now dropping is 1.4c now and fogging up a bit more. EDIT: Back upto 2c now, apparently its 7c in ballykelly will beleive that when i see it. still frost on the fields here.
