  1. Stellas all round No guarantee this winter will be a repeat of last year , come on gang the trees round here are still in leaf plenty of time for snow and frost ,and it can change, History tells us that .but i get the drift .last winter was compared to several winters from the 1700 s ,take a look at how many severe cold and snowy ones there were that century .I can hear some posters possibly thinking ,[we did not have Man made climate change then ]well whether we have or not, many parts of the globe still have record cold spells ,but take a look at our location and occasionally we hit the jackpot ,and we havent had a real beast for quite a while ,cheers gang off for a Bacon BAP .
  2. Attention all Rampers moaners ,Winter still to come ,13 weeks of possibilities 182 ish runs of ECM 364 of GFS and others ,sit back crack open a Stella Mother nature is a cooking up in our upper atmosphere ,im pretty sure thats where it all counts ,Dont worry if you start throwing your toys out of the pram ,mummy will tidy them up and look after you .Go carefull when pulling the curtains back to have a look at the street lamp ,My mum used to shout out GET back in bed ,and with 3 brothers all tugging at the curtains it was a full time job .lets hope we all get what we want but remain in controll and be patient , SNOWWWW .
  3. Evening all ,just observed 2 very bright flashes far out west definately not fireworks ,radar looking very active over bristol channel and s wales ,but i think the worst possibly to my northwest ,but moving very slowly .looks like a few could see it severe even if only for a short period .copiouse amounts of rain look likely for later tomorrow and tuesday with weather fronts stalling from time to time .cheers gang .
  4. Great model output discussion tonight gang ,and its nice to see member numbers increasing on our forum .I dont want to seem a bore but get the right pressure charts and it does not take long for that cold to build ,lets take present conditions as apposed to 5 days ago ,but keep reminding ourselves its only early November and already the cold in northern Hemisphere high latitudes is well and truly showing its hand .I,m finding the new GFS Model interesting and some Tasty charts on ECM ,hopefully some building blocks appearing ,Ps dont wish for an ice age ,no power no Forum ,cheers gang ,
  5. First off there are many members of Net weather who can and will i,m sure answer your question .as you quote it depends where the P vortex forms and hangs out just like a drinker down his local favourite pub .But probably not where it hung out last winter or even closer to us to our north north west .the further away from us probably the better to allow high pressure in our location south of the pole ,in general terms high to our north low to our south ,but there are so many possible synoptic situations that can set up including a strong PV and other alignments you could probably fill a book .model watching very interesting at the moment and charts show some action weather on its way to our shores .i,m realy looking forward to the winter discussions ,my prams full up with toys ,prozack being picked up tomorrow ,two boxes of straws on order ,Lamp post or floodlights at the ready .just read some old Met magazines on winters past ,bring it on ,STellas all round cheers .
  6. Charts this morning showing plenty of autumnal weather ,with hints of perhaps some cold shots looking at northern upper air patterns .I certainly dont like the last frame of current GFS run this morning ,A high pressure area sat to our s west which appears to be laughing at us coldies .but on the other hand in its previouse run a nice high to our north east .Lets all keep our feet firmly on the ground gang ,nearly three weeks of autumn left then bingo ,thirteen weeks or so of winter thats 182 runs of ECM and 360 of GFS so plenty of time to get our fix .Things looking totally different to last year ,so interesting times ahead on our top of the range Forum .
  7. looks like a good bit of rain will hit our area towards midnight ,radar out west looks rather impressive ,just got back with the dog and rather chilly our mild mush is gone bring on the winter , will mother nature balance the books over the coming months ,hope so ,regards legritter .
  8. Welcome @ actguk ,we have plenty of followers reading our forums and its always good when we get some input from their first post .Net Weather i find is the most interesting around with plenty of posters sharing their knowledge in our many forums .Charts and data today [so far ] shows some interesting autumn weather and at the far outlook we could see some early wintry weather turn up .things certainly look different this year with northern hemisphere Set up ,we all know how things can suddenly flip ,lets hope its an interesting flip ,I eagerly await this evenings charts ,cheers
  9. very tantalising charts from GFS in its further outlook ,but being right towards its end these could disapear in a blink ,but perhaps its picking up on some signals .perhaps even a realy good blow later next week so one to watch ,certainly looks like autumn is about to kick off with some action .as i,v already quoted if Mother nature is soon to balance the books temperature wise we could see some interesting times ahead here on Net weather ,cheers all .
  10. .We have Buzzards by the dozen gliding around most days ,a pair of perrigrins not too far away ,and indeed a couple of weeks ago the parents were driving this years chicks away .its great to see ,but i have witnessed poisoning in the process several years ago , not sure by what type of person and for what reason ,but its great to see our population of birds of prey grace our skys .quite often see our local perri return with a small rabbit , long may it continue ,cheers .
  11. Morning all ,as others have pointed out nothing too cold on the horizon but next week will become more mobile and more like autumn proper .But looking at 10 day charts today it would only need pressure to our south to fall more than currently projected and it could very well be rain rain and gales .it will also be interesting to see how the polar vortex starts to settle down and begins its period of growth .If mother nature balances the books to finish off the year we could see some interesting Model discussion and with plenty of prime time ahead Who knows whats around the next corner ,Early last December [Little did we know ]what was lurking around the corner ,bring it on STellas all round , New GFS another tool in our armoury ,cheers gang .
  12. Yes looks good ,but at this range as usual all subject to change .overall the further outlook this morning looks good with some action weather about .If Mother nature is going to balance out the temperatures before the end of this year it could be very interesting ,A big Straw but im going to give it a try .ECM certainly showing some nice charts as we enter November ,cheers gang .
  13. well not many posters around tonight ,unless im not updating ,charts are pointing towards a change of sorts and looks like the further outlook could be interesting with much colder air moving south eventually ,but as usual at this range very dicey to predict anything too definate ,but interesting times hopefully will bring a few more posters out from under their Duvet .
  14. Certainly looks good if your looking for some action weather ,Current charts showing some good possibilitys for later in its output ,and of course interesting now with colder air to our north and northwest ,mild generally for britain hense the intense rain further north which could give some amazing totals come late mon/tuesday .But a real tease for us cold weather fans ,but HEY plenty of winter weeks to come and we all know what Mother nature is capable of ,plenty going on and i expect more posters to appear at the bottom of our forum pretty soon .once again looking across the Globe at weather forums we on Net weather have a brilliant team of members [old soldiers ] and New ones ,sit back crack open a Stella get out the prozack, the DAM 528 Train hopefully is on its way ,cheers .
  15. Some very interesting charts in the further outlook ,beefy could sum it up .hoping for some action weather and to see the total of posters in Model thread to increase from the half dozen or so as of late .got a gut feeling November could be far more interesting than autumn so far .But we will probably see our friend the Azores high put a few Spanners in the works ,lets hope MR bartlett decides to party early on this late autumn /winter .so get the straws ready ,sharpen the razors ,prozack at the ready ,and order in loads of salt ,Stellas all round cheers gang
  16. Looking at tonights charts not much of a change coming our way ,but as othershave pointed out ,perhaps a saving on the heating bills and some slow moving weather fronts bringing some steady rain to favoured locations depending how synoptics set up .but we have many weeks of winter wonderland ahead gang ,tidy up those prams sharpen the razors stock up on the prozack ,but we Can look forward to some good debate on Net weather ,the best forum around .
  17. As usual gang ,the very far outlook is very tasty for some .But it looks like we will be graced by action weather looking at current charts ,so not boring, typical Autumn fayre ,Frosty 009 get the Stellas in ,i,ll have a half . :drinks:iv just got back from southern italy but i have been popping in to our great forum ,cheers .
  18. Well first off lets hope theres no repeat of last winter ,misery loss of life and financial loss for many .And i,m not going to be gready and wish for the winter from hell ,[regards blizzards and record low temperatures for three months ]but hoping for a spread of snowy weather and some record low temp but short lasting .to make it interesting perhaps some good old english channel lows ,with some lows moving across us further north to keep most posters happy .a nice run of polar lows and some Good lake effect snow .A nice share of the snow for all posters ,well im not asking for alot .But one thing is certain ,we have no clue at the present how this winter is going to pan out ,just cast our minds back to early last December and not one Model was on the money ,no long range forecast , but what was round the corner was Mother nature at its most spectacular .but im pretty sure that this winter will be a noteworthy one ,but for what reasons im not sure .But the weather generally is in a very interesting mode
  19. As pointed out by some our very quiet summer like weather looks like continuing into October ,but with possible signs of pressure falling somewhat towards day 10 .I am realy looking forward to the winter period for yet another interesting Model discussion on this fantastic forum of ours ,looking around other sights available and im under the impression that we have some very talented posters on Net weather ,lets hope we have a winter with plenty of meat on the bones ,us posters will apply the mustard ,cheers gang
  20. stopped the car up on mendip about 30 min ago and you could see non stop flashes towards bath area .had a few large spots of rain .now looking at developments across the channel for later tonight ,enjoy whilst we have it .
  21. Morning all ,nice to see the possibility of some thundery weather creeping into the UK .And with the evenings now getting darker some hopefully observed flashes ,but does look from this range a very hard call on locations and intensity ,but a real bonus for us at this time of year to get what we all crave for .best of luck to all ,Cameras and radar at the ready
  22. Just popped in for a look at todays charts and Data and it certainly could be our last shot at a bbq weekend before autumn proper sets in during next week ,a very unusual synoptic set up as of late what comes next ,Mother nature is amazing ,but lets enjoy this period of calm while we can
  23. Yes very pleasant looking charts is all i can say myself ,but lets enjoy as it could all change in the further longer outlook .time perhaps to enjoy the outside life before the winter from hell arrives ,and of course the Nail biting winter Model output discussions ,bring it on Lets hope we see more Fax charts like todays T120 hrs .
  24. Summer lives on past its use by date is the only observation i can gleen from todays output so far .I am going to enjoy this weeks pattern and hopefully it will last for a while ,but an ever increasing possibility of low pressure trying to gatecrash the party later in the far outlook [stay tuned ] cheers gang ,catch you all up later .
  25. when i was a boy some of the winters were cold ,the snow came down the chimney as we had no fire no heating anywhere in the house ,we used to cuddle up to the fridge with the doors opened ,the dog would jump into bed with us to keep us warm and sometimes the toilet pot under the bed would freezeup .right on a serious note ,the fire goes on now when the rheumatism starts in my feet ,which it did the other night but it only took an hour to warm the room up. the last few morning have had a nip in the air when iv walked the dog just after dawn ,Autumn seems to be making in roads looking at current forecast charts ,cheers gang ,PS we did not have a fridge when me and my brothers were young just a larder ,and mum would send us to bed with a hot water bottle ,fantastic smell and a cosy feeling .regards .
