  1. Fantastic day here ,at 7am this morning hardly any contrails from north american flights in when usually we have dozens ,a great science emerging in contrails for those who want to understand upper air charts .May even butter up a bap or two and enjoy with a coffee on the patio ,cheers .

      I remember Atlantic 252

to see those planes from here, has to be clear day, with low sun angle, mainly visible from Nov to Feb

  2. Pulled up and destroyed all my brussel sprout plants today ,i took my eyes off them for a while whilst sorting out family matters and those lovely cabbage white butterflies laid their eggs all over them .

No sprouts for Christmas? If you have to settle for supermarket sprouts my fave recipe is to trim and halve them, boil for around 5 mins, no more. Plunge into cold water to stop cooking. Then brown some strips of smoky bacon in a pan and saute the sprouts along with the bacon to warm them up again, yum!

  4. Rain now stopped here in north somerset ,total rain about 4mm ,so the weather beets us again , must admit i was expecting something a bit more meaty but we all know the score bring on the winter storms cheers .
  5. A very interesting day coming up ,its all now coming together and looks to me that things will quickly change so i,m going to check every hour or so on radar and still time for surprises as its all very complex ,well thats the nature of our hobby very frustrating at times but that goes with a Science thats not exact even here in the year 2015 . Television forecasts have always been open to big changes over the day not so much these days but generally its been a case of collecting Data and getting in on the screen in the form of a forecast ,time is limited to telly forecasts but its great we now have the Web in our interest ,some action now as regards to thundery activity to our south ,best of luck to all
  6. Thoughts now of high pressure to our north with biting easterly winds lashings of snow and the sea freezing around our coasts ,so time to stock up on Baps and tins of soup we can all live in hope gang .

  8. Yes crane flys are lurking about here too .had two stuck to newly painted wall paper last week , guarantee when i go out our back garden when its dark for a couple of puffs they all rush in and dance around hall light . wonder if they will make a good Bap filler , got woken up about 3 am this morning with next doors bin being hurled against the fence ,looks like this system matured as today as progressed ,cheers .

  9. yes a real shame that the bbc are possibly moving away from the Met office ,but at the end of the day all Raw Data starts just as that for all weather providing companys ,but of course its the way these organisations relay this info to places like bbc and other media outlooks , but we will still have the Met office to view .time for a sausage bap and a coffee .

Placed an empty can over it and put it in the garden ,shiver me timbers it was that big it set off the security lighting unless it was my arm sticking out .No Baps today as i,v got to loose some weight ,plenty of veg and a small half chicken for this evening perhaps some fruit for mid day , then perhaps a nice bacon Bap with some pickle tomorrow as a treat ,c...

We have many nutters on our roads ,car drivers motorbike riders and cyclists ,i,m a cyclist but i was amazed when out cutting our grass the other week ,a cyclist passed our house using or listening to a mobile ,just one hand on handle bars ,too many incidents to keep calling the police as with cut backs etc ,but terrible accidents result in their behavour ,you only have to see all these bunches of flowers at roadsides ,what is the answer ,on a lighter note having a tuna bap today instead of s...

  21. Very interesting discussion gang ,I can remember many years ago during a thunder snow event witnessing a greenish pinkish lightning ,probably caused by precipitation being of the frozen kind ,but there must be many reasons why lightning is different colours . I have read about storms in remote places where its usually dry and not that much pollution around that the lightning is very orangy but the further away from the source a greeny blue . well lets hope we see some come this friday ,any colour will doo ,cheers .
