Went gritting last night. Landed!!!

It would seem we are 'stuck' in Autumn type weather, Very Very Mild, bears the question "when winter does come, will it be prolonged?, is the season shifting meaning a cold April/May?".................... One things for sure "IM HOPING SO!!!"......wishful thinking

I'm in Neath and relatively sheltered and this is the worst winds we have experienced for a very very very long time. It's constant. There is no break. Absolutely howling. Just glad we still got power. Real mental. Staying in all day for me!!! Mrs going shopping......

Need some cold dudes. When are we looking at some significant sustained cold periods. This weather is extremely autumn like. My gritters are feeling lonely, unused, worthless, they want to be in action. So do I !!! Anyone got any good news for us cold lovers.... P.s... I don't want snow - just lovely minus figures. Single figures in the day and minus at night! Anyone got any good news on this? Merry Christmas and a happy new year from the welsh Gritter!!

Morning all. Anyone got any realistic forecasts for this coming winter? Temperature has certainly dropped in the last week. Central heating on!

Im BACK Ya'll - so what that means is that the Winter cant be too far away! So.......whats your predictions this winter for us in South Wales?

Morning Guys and Gals. Just a quick question. We are having extremely cold nights but there seems to be no moisture, no ice on windscreens etc....... Are we likely to get any? Its been ages now since we had any night moisture. Its like the desert, dry as a bone.

Unbelievable photos. We are all walking round in Bermuda shorts and tank tops in Neath !!!! Mental how the difference is in just a few miles. Seems like the south has missed out again!!! Enjoy all.

No snow - Boo Hoo

this weather is Barney, I mean Barmy.......... I think ill be gritting Sunday night until Tuesday night and then it will pick back up again.

What a cracking day !!! Scaffolding boys are happy !!! After the wet year we had last year ! Tomorrow looks to be more of the same - just warmer !! Happy Days

Thank You Both - I thought it was something to do with moisture in the air as we have had two very cold nights - but the windscreens havent frozen up locally either.

Were all talking like winters over? I was gritting in April last year. Can anyone andwer this for me? I gritted my sites last night and on returning tonight, much of last nights salt is still there. As thou it hasnt been tested with the cold temps. The sites are busy sites and have been used. The salt has just been grinded down. This has happened before. Normally I grit night after night and you can see its gone and you replenish. Has it got something to do with moisture in the air or dewpoints? Just seems really really dry and it hasnt come into contact with any moisture whatsoever.

Thank You Guys and Galls....... My forecasts are giving a coldish week this week coming but 'REAL REAL' cold looks to have well passed us. Dry and Cold suits me to the ground.

Anyone have a guestimate as to what March is looking like in terms of 'cold'.
