  2. UKASF are having issues with the polygon overlays on google maps and Dan is also currently away chasing in the States. However, we (SkyWarnUK ) may well put out a very generalised watch later today for Monday/Tuesday.
  3. On the face of it this shows all the ingredients in place for an"interesting" afternoon. However, the frontal cloud may prove rather stubborn, resulting in zilch stormwise
  4. LOL - yep Tony is a bit of a "media whore" but a likeable one.
  5. Wouldnt put much faith in that Scott - the CAP will see it off. Now, next week is looking far more "interesting". Rainfall totals next week could also be excessively high.
  6. Nice few days into the weekend for everyone, then all change as of Sunday. A sharp and southward projecting upper trough drives a weak Icelandic low down the Wrn side of the UK before the upper trough cuts off and leaves a complex surface low situation, which the globals see wallowing around through next week. This puts a plume of Biscay/Continental air up the UK, with widespread precip between the 5 and 10oC isotherms at 850mb - some of this may be convective, though most will be smeared murk and downstream effects of Continental convection. Nevertheless, some periods of warm sector thermodynamic convection likely given the ascent provided by the jet persistently rounding the base of what becomes a cut-off upper low. Some hints of a Continental heat low generated from Benelux/Germany and drawn NWwd over the UK later in the period. Either way, some flooding concerns given much higher PW values than we've seen so far creating heavy rain rates, though on the plus side temps hovering around 20oC for most away from the far W.

  11. Would hate to see the 'offspring' lol
  12. For the past three years SkyWarn UK has sent a small team out to the States to assist with the tracking and notification/warning of severe or potentially severe weather. Of course to do this we have to chase storms even though we're not primarily a stormchasing organisation. We do this under the banner of SIStERS which is an acronym for SkyWarn International Storm Emergency Responders. SIStERS1 was in 2012, SIStERS2 in 2013 and this year SIStERS3 will be flying out to Dallas on the 19th May. If you are interested in following us then we will be blogging and if all goes well will also be on Ustream. You will also be able to follow our progress (or lack of!) on GR3. Further details will be posted on our blog on the run-up to the 19th May and of course we will be updating at least once a day together with pics and vids. You can sign up for email alerts each time we update our blog by clicking on the follow link on the bottom right hand corner of the page. The blog can be found here http://membership853.wordpress.com/2014/04/ Here's hoping for an active 2 weeks!
