I may have to have a trip up to see it off! Going very dark towards Wisbech way now.
Change of plan, quick trip up the A17 to intercept just north of Sutton Bridge

Going by forecasts I think it will be slightly further north of M4 where we see initiation of the main bulk of storms rather than along it, line from say Gloucester to Oxford to North side of M25, just to give an idea.
Yep, hopefully we’ll get some home grown before that mass of rain coming up from France scuppers it

Have another look, east of oxford and and a line along the north edge of the M25.
Yep, can see that but no sign of sferics with it.

And I think we have lift off, in the forecasted spots. A line from central london along the m4 heading north.
From current radar there’s absolutely nothing yet other than the mass of rain just coming ashore along the south coast. Certainly not a line from central London along the M4

According to the radar it’s been “precipitating’ here near Hunstanton since early morning. However, it’s as dry as a bone. False radar returns me thinks. In fact the sun keeps peeping through

Well after 20 mins of looking in the mad house I've still no idea whats going on as we go into new year..
New one on me is what they are calling "polar night jet" no idea what that is..
FThe stratospheric polar vortex is a cyclonic circulation that forms over the winter pole, whose edge is characterized by a strong westerly jet (also called polar night jet, PNJ). The PNJ plays a key role in processes such as the distribution of atmospheric constituents in the polar stratosphere or the wave propagation.

METO should try and hire some professionals with extensive knowledge of ppn charts and localised forecasts. We're 50yrs behind US NWS.
This amber warning was just a complete joke. It's one thing playing it safe and protecting the public and another being soooo wrong is laughable.
What a totally ridiculous post

I’d have loved to have been! But at work unfortunately. It’s painful!! Until the next time, whenever that may be. This year has been so poor. Had one chase, and that was an epic fail! Got to near Lowestoft and it had all cleared off in a flash to the N Sea!
Tomorrow has “some” potential but probs a little south of us.

Sudden turn to the right on the NW Norfolk cell, right near my home. Wish I could be there to confirm any rotation or severity. I’m gutted!
No rotation.

That storm to the East of mine is an absolute monster. Looks to have become a right mover with an intense hailcore. Anyone near Swaffham, Fakenham or in Norwich should be on the lookout.
Not as mean as it looks on radar. Had an hour of intense thunder, no structure to be seen. Core rainfall rate of 68mm/hr. No hail. Surprised you weren’t out chasing.

Disgustingly humid today. The lovely cooling breeze of this morning has been replaced by a hot waft....not nice!
Good to see the radar coming to life, nothing to benefit my area but at least some of our region is getting some much needed rain.
Most of that isn’t reaching the ground.

Yep, but I think they have it under control.

Pushing 37c here, looks like a fire has broken out near the coast between kings Lynn and Hunstanton too
It’s a field fire on the A149 between Knights Hill and Hillingdon

That's the max temp in the hours (probably 6 hours) before midnight, so thankfully not the actual temp at midnight.
Yeah, I know that but some don’t although I wouldn’t rule anything out
