  1. Historic day across much of Southern France, a lot of all-time records tumbling.
  2. Agreed, this event has the potential to be truly historic across France, and possibly the UK as well. Such uppers warrant a memorable spell, I think Friday/Saturday are being seriously underestimated by all the forecasts.
  3. GFS 12z already looking mouthwatering for next week and more in line with the other models, low out further west than prior.
  4. Definately an emphasis now from the majority of the models in favour of the core of the heat occuring towards the latter part of the week (Thursday-Saturday currently.) In a way its an upgrade because the heat is stretched out for a longer period allowing for a more substained spell rather than just for a couple of days.
  5. Would be quite something to be sitting down on Southsea Common with temperatures over 30c! as you stated it happened mutliple times at the start of July last year, very exicting times ahead. Keep up the great posts.
  6. GFS 6z less intense on the heat but prolongs it into the week-end, which in a way would be preferable personally. France is going to be outrageous in terms of temperatures later next week! I Imagine the storm potential later next week will be off the scale.
  7. Met Office & BBC predicting just 28/29C for Central London on Wednesday & Thursday, yeah not happening, providing the models stay on track of course. If there's any spell of clear skies even just for a few hours the temperature will be shooting up to around 35C.
  8. GFS 6z even more incredible, Wow! Saving the hell out of these screenshots.
  9. Still not convinced about what 0z shows for next week regarding some of the uppers for mid next week, surely too early in the summer for those sort of temperatures to actually occur. Still reminds me heavily of July 1st 2015 though. Definately a 35c possible at some point next week in London.
  10. Still think this Summer could be reminisent of 2015 in many ways. not a very good summer especially compared to last years masterpiece but with major short-lived spells of heat. next week showcases that possibility, although GFS has gotten carried away on the latest run for sure. This time the difference seems to be so far that the heat might be centrered over more Eastern Europe rather than Spain, Portugal & Southern France like it was in 2015 (2015 was one of Spain's hottest Summers on record.)
  11. Best/Worst: Jan: 2010, 2011 Feb: 2018, 2014 March: 2018, 2010 April: 2011, 2012 May: 2018, 2013 June: 2014, 2016 July: 2018, 2012 August: 2013. 2010 September: 2016, 2017 October: 2018, 2012 November: 2015, 2012 December: 2010 (closely followed by 2015), 2012
  12. Much preferred that yellow grass, yellow is my favourite colour and it made for some great photos against the landscapes, moreover it fits the vibe of summer more, after all the grass is always green in the other 9 months and in normal summers. Also for walking in the countryside, dust<mud anyday. Back to boring nothingness from here on out. With that said no complaints about 2018 weather wise, 26th Feb-Last Tuesday was a truly fascinating period of weather.
  13. Least Favourites: August 2010 February 2011 July 2011 April 2012 June 2012 July 2012 October 2012 June 2016 September 2017
  14. January 2010 December 2010 April 2011 January 2013 July 2013 December 2015 March 2018 June 2018 July 2018
  15. I was born in 1993, so the only good August's I remember were from my childhood. In recent years the best months have been July (last month down here was superb) and occasionally June/September.
  16. August's are hopeless in this country, summer just seems to give up, even in a legendary summer such as this one. France in August is so much better, 31c in Paris on Thursday.
  17. Don't let nostalgia fool you, a quick look back of the stats from both 1995 and 1976 at London Heathrow & Gatwick Airport showcase that there were about 4 or 5 days in those summers that were sub 18c and raining during the day. This summer particularly because of the fantastic May still sits alongside those two summers at the moment. With that said, I'm really missing being able to be outside like on Monday & Tuesday, now this is only possible with a fleece which is never fun, and you can forget sitting outside when everything is so rain soaked.
  18. Now this is more the kind of rain I like, fast moving sharp showers with a thunder risk, gonna be fun watching these roll through.
  19. Well everyone has their different preferences and we must respect that. However I will never personally consider 30c for a few days with low humidity 'oppressive summer heat' that to me is a perfect summers day, but that is strictly my opinion. Either way this weather today is depressing and a reminder why I usually dislike summers in this country much, predictably no storms like always on Tuesday night but pointless drizzly rain which won't green up the grass much anyway. Looking forward to next week when I can go outside in the evening without being cold and do long hikes in the countryside. Visiting London's parks on Monday was awesome, felt like I was in Madrid with the 32c and yellow grass.
  20. Warmest spot in the country today I believe, although St James Park briefly reached 29C. Haven't experienced any summer like it in the UK, by this point in August even the legendary 2006 was faltering, and that didn't have a good May (apart from one day on the 4th May in 2006) compared to the fantastic May this year. even 1976 had a worse May than this.
  21. Definitely normal for most of Spain (last summer was hotter) but locally Babajoz hit an all time high as well as numerous locations in Portugal.
  22. How's Lisbon Blade? looks like it may have surpassed the 2003 record of 42.5C.
