MetO tweeted saying no lightning detected over the UK so what the heck is it
The flashes seem to be away from any power lines though. I've certainly never seen anything like it in my life
For the past hour or so myself and other locals have witnessed blue and green flashes in the sky - I'd say lightning but none of the radars have detected any. Can anyone shed some light?
We've had around 7in of snow in 6 hours, still coming down heavy and the wind has really picked up.
Very odd nothing in the lightning detector, but we keep getting flashes of blue and green. It's quite nasty out there windy and blizzard like conditions. We've had about 7 Inches now
The wind has really picked up, the snow is swirling around. Never seen lightning in such a vivid turquoise colour before that was certainly a first for me!
Slowed a little here now, we've got about 7/8cm lying. I think its going to pick up again looking at the radar. MetO and BBC have forecasted heavy snow for my area until 4/5am.
We've had a good 6cm (last time I looked) still coming down. Roads locally are horrendous.
BBC says heavy snow up to 5am tomorrow morning - is this likely??
Local roads are horrendous, cars can't get up/down hills - looks like the gritters haven't been out at all. We had flakes bigger than a £2 coin, beautiful to see. We've had approx 4cm in less than a hour!!
