  1. I suppose until your own house gets flooded you don't appreciate the disruption and ruin it causes to peoples lives. I genuinely feel sorry for these folks putting up with that kind of misery. Hope things have finally calmed down rain wise.
  2. Great I can finally post on here after weeks of misery. Nice to see winter returning, and some snow already in the North East. Hope that band in the borders can deliver some white stuff to the rest of us. Hoping to get a ski day off work next week.
  3. That analysis is very grim indeed. Into the 2nd third of winter now and nothing on the horizon. This pattern seems to be continuous. No Scottish ski centres open and unlikely to open for at least 10 days as no Base. It's the worst in my 12 years of skiing. Problem is there is nothing we can do about it. Meto aren't suggesting any long term pattern change and the charts are poor.
  4. Snowing on the Bishopton cams! Hope some push east. Happy New Year.
  5. Merry Christmas. Interesting charts in the next 7 days. Who knows could be a snowmagedden January!
  6. Snowing at 700ft Altguish! Temps dropping so don't right off any wet snow for people above 500ft later on.
  7. Apparently not this winter Hairy! It's been hard on us all. I am fed up having to fix the outside lights twice a week . Then the two side roof panels come off every storm. Same ones! I put them back up the wind takes them back down! Then the wife says get a roofer ..naw naw it will hold this time. If they are still up tomorrow it will be a miracle. I just want 3 days of cold frosty weather at least..not asking for much.
  8. Winter so far has been downright awful. But believe it or not there is an outside chance of snow the night before the big day.
  9. Agreed the charts are looking really interesting as early as the 2nd Jan! Looks like a whole northern circle of cold air enveloping Scotland.
  10. I haven't given up on winter yet just the first third. In central Scotland I have had no daytime lying snow. Had two night snowfalls in November melted in hours. 4 frosts from November to now. It's been abject but heck we are now used to December being milder these days. Let's imagine January as the start of winter and we will all feel better. I really feel for the kids who never skate on the canals, sledge or make snow angels. It's what winter should be about.
  11. Scotland is unique we have higher temperatures in winter than in summer! This mild air has to sink south eventually! Thursday has snow potential for some according to the models and then high pressure. Would be nice some cold frosty calm weather.
  12. It must have been volume of precipitation. I live 8 miles from bathgate which was plastered with snow. Yet not a drop fell in Maddiston just heavy wet sleet. some of the places that had snow were so close to me it was ridiculous.
  13. Got up 0c in car and it's raining! Whit the hell. Only in scotland does it have to be -50 before it actually snows! I remember it snowed in Les Gets France when it was 5c outside! Upside is I won't freeze my knackers when out running tonight!
  14. January looks tasty on the long range. December damp and mild but that could change. Hope for tomorrow night later on.Could I have 2 snow days in November?
  15. Jees just checked the Polmont November weather records. 1 frost day 0.1c. That's pretty rubbish for the 25th day of November. Average temp is 8.1c.
  16. Yep November has not been that interesting. No widespread frosts or deep freezes and one nominal snow day. I see there is snow forecast for Friday evening but it's marginal.....again!
  17. Er still snowing but road black again. Pavement white and grass. Don't expect much in the morning.
  18. Yeh that sucks Grangemouth. Going to do my final window check now.
  19. I think elevation is the factor in this event. It's not always the case. I am guessing anywhere over 250ft is getting good snow.
