  1. The latest update of the HIRLAM model is looking rather promising for West Wicklow, much of Kildare and possibly south Meath (and some other asking areas inland) for tomorrow evening and it's clear to see that it's taking evaporative cooling into effect. Will be very interesting to see how it pans out. I find it this model to be often fairly accurate.
  2. Looking at the Bournmouth webcam ( http://www.camsecure.co.uk/Camsecure2/bournmouth_pier_webcam.html ), looks like large hail is falling as the storm arrives
  3. A few minutes ago, near Enfield, Co Meath - http://youtu.be/nprh0JRmQdg
  4. Try this link for sat24 instead.....if it works on your phone, you'll see what I am talking about - http://www.sat24.com/en/eu?ir=true I'm in north Kildare, close to Enfield, Co Meath. Been a registered member for years but as you can see by the number of posts I have made, I don't say much very often!
  5. Have just looked at satellite animation on http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html and my confidence has grown a LOT that there may be a fairly substantial snow event in many parts tomorrow. That massive area of intensifying and enlarging area of precip (fairly safe to say that it is snow) that is currently moving southeastwards after originating just west of the south of Greenland is currently making a bee line for Ireland. I do have a fear that it may turn to a more easterly direction before it gets here (going by the current direction of the cloud masses to the west of and over Ireland) and may pass to the north or may only affect more northern areas but only time will tell. I usually take a back seat for these kind of events and have a tendency to be pessimistic but I have a gut feeling that we could be in for something good by first thing tomorrow morning, in addition to the showers forecast during the night - not necessarily for everyone on the island but things seem have been turned up a notch or two in the past few hours.....from my perspective anyway. I may well be eating my hat come tomorrow though
  6. Anyone got any pics or video? As there is still as surface cap, would I be correct in saying that these storms are not particularly photogenic at the moment?
  7. A line of explosive convection now visible on the radar, stretching in a north northeast direction from just south east of the IOW to near Billingshurst. The growth of this is phenomenal! Lots of strikes being recorded too
  8. As requested by some people, I've made another version of the video, this time without a watermark. I've also tweaked around a small bit with the picture to try provide a bit more contrast so that the funnel is a bit more pronounced. Feel free to spread it around. As per usual, best viewed in HD.
  9. Timelapse of funnel forming and then a brief tornado touchdown just after the 2:20 mark. The video ends with a fairly impressive rotating rope funnel......impressive by Irish standards at least! Location was the north Kildare/Meath border yesterday around 20:00. Best viewed in HD
