  1. A twitter list for weather here - no need for an account or anything just view the page whenever or bookmark for future viewing: https://twitter.com/mellowmark/lists/weather On a mobile/tablet you might have to select "get desktop version" to view it though? (I have to anyway). Of course if you do have a twitter account, you can set up your own 'list' and choose exactly who is in it. Lists is the only way I have found to make good use of twitter as too many people I follow tweeting too much stuff on all sorts of subjects = way too much info. So I just made lists categorised by subject/interest and basically ignore all the other people I follow. If someone on a list is not contributing stuff of interest or is tweeting too often then I just prune them off the list.

  9. Interesting article in today's (Sunday) paper: Britain's farming crisis: 'People don't realise how tough everything is' Crippling costs, bad weather and disease have hit the countryside hard – and left the future of British food in jeopardy, say the farmers fighting for survival: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/mar/16/britain-farming-crisis-how-tough As well as this one which even makes the front page: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/mar/16/uk-farmers-face-disaster

  14. On the plus side there might be a fair bit of snow on the higher Western hills by the end of the week: Planning Outlook: All mountain areas of Britain from Saturday, 26th January, 2013 Atlantic southwesterlies from the weekend for at least a week will bring long bouts of upland gales; often severe or storm force particularly across Scotland. Freezing level will vary with freeze thaw cycles (although only rarely will the highest Scottish summits exceed freezing point). Precipitation will be frequent and often heavy, mostly rain on lower areas, whilst mostly snow on higher summits. Total precipitation will be considerable on western mountains, with western Scotland bearing the brunt. Forecast issued at 20:49 Thursday, 24/01/13
