  1. Thank you CWN, that was a really useful post about model watching/interpretations
  2. Now we have snow falling and settling, I hope more falls for a bit longer into the night. It looks as though the back edge isn't too far off the coast now.
  3. I think it will def be knife edge for us on the coast, sat watching the radar and waiting to see what arrives and how/if it develops on the top of Portland.
  4. It will probably be just rain/sleet today across the SW but it looks like tonight there will be some decent snow showers around on the NW flow. Even us in Weymouth/West Dorset tend to pick up the odd shower in that setup.
  5. I thought we were all done here and was expecting rain (as showing on the ppn radar)....but we have snow falling again on Portland.
  6. Freezing rain overnight on the top of Portland. Everything is sheet ice. Roads, paths, walls, front door, side of house....I've never seen anything like it before. Lethal but extraordinary to see.
  7. It has been snowing lightly in Weymouth most of the afternoon. Weymouth, snow and April are words not usually used in the same sentence!
  8. Still light snow here in Weymouth. I also had icicles - hanging off the underside of the car this morning.....can't complain at that for mid March on the south coast!
  9. Talk about marginal on Friday.....it was snowing on Boot Hill and settling yet along Westwey Road yards away along the inner harbour it was only rain before turning back to settling snow when past the Southill roundabout. Very odd. Hopefully we will have several more interesting weeks ahead before the winter ends :-)
  10. We have a thin slushy covering here just up from the harbour, it looks more like a heavy hoar frost.....but at least the kids can say they saw some snow when they wake up! :-)
  11. I remember it well. A red alert was issued about lunchtime, all the media outlets flocked to mid-Dorset for the snow-fest and were broadcasting by mid-afternoon.......2 hours later the red alert was moved 50 miles up the coast to Hampshire who got all the snow.
  12. I'm fairly skeptical about the forecast here in Weymouth. We have not been anywhere near zero in either air temp of dew point this week and I can't see enough of a drop happening when it arrives for snow to reach sea level. It is currently 6.8c air and 1.9c dew point.
  13. Currently +2.5c air and +1.8c dew point......no chance of any snow here in Weymouth by the looks of it!
