  1. Here in FW Netweather says 5C and sleet car outside temp says 2C and it's snow and Hail.
  2. Temp outside now 10C but the wind chill is amazing, out for a few mins and fingers were freezing.
  3. Left Inverness at 6.30 pm 8C back down to FW 7C basically temp changed 1 degree halfway at Fort Augustus, basically balmy.
  4. Yes your correct it as 81/82 I was an apprentice at the time I arrived into work at 5.45am to be confronted by a time officer who took weather measurements every 4 hours and he just couldn't believe what his outside thermometer was telling him. I was working with two 60 plus year olds that morning and we had to walk down through a depression carved out of rock where we remain convinced it was even colder, some of the frost damage had to be seen to be believed.
  5. 82/83 and 95/96 winters we had minus 21 temps here in the West Highlands walking in it was like having wee pins jabbing your cheeks.
  6. This event is just a typical West Highland Storm so far here. Windy, lashing rain, cold nothing out of the normal.
  7. I've got a full set of Nokian Weatherproofs 215/55/ 16s love them very precise and grippy couldn't fault them. Car came brand new with Michelin Primacy 3s hated them car was twitchy as hell. Replaced them with a set of Dunlop Wintersport D4s which suited the car fine, Nokians are every bit as good possibly even better. I would happily buy the Nokians again.
  8. Hi LS congratulations on all the academics haven't been on the thread since last winter to come in and find yourself posting is a sure sign winters coming, that and I've just fitted a full set of Nokian Weatherproofs.
  9. Been snowing about a couple hours here and nearly 2 inches deep but netweather 7 day forecast days we shouldn't be getting anything !
  10. Signing on for Winter 2015/16, looking good for weekend, been lurking all year. Dunlop Wintersports D4 been on since last year, excellent tyres, car prefers them to Michelin Primacy 3s sits better on road 5% more fuel consumption though. One and only time on snow last year they were brilliant.
  11. Got to do the smug snow tyres thing today 3 young guys took 20 mins to get up a wee brae in front of house I was brushing snow off car. While they compacted and polished the surface then they disappeared I gets into car out of drive up now really slidy brae and catch them up, stuck on a slight incline I come to halt then proceed to drive round them in thick snow. To hear one of them shout how's that old punter able to do that and you can't !
  12. Just outside FW 1.5 inches and 1C. Sky heavy and snowing wonder what the morning will bring ?
  13. Square root of hee haw here sprinkling.
  14. Hoping to give the Dunlop D4 winters a bit of a run out later. Just a sprinkle at the moment, big heavy looking clouds and patches of blue, temp is 4C currently.
  15. Still light hail/snow mix sky looks heavy with something ground has a white sprinkle.
  16. Now haily snow, ground turning white, if we're getting this already things are looking good for later.
  17. Sleety hail falling, under starters orders.
  18. At 10pm driving home in FW it was 7C pretty blustery though.
  19. Just outside Fort William the wind is dying down compared to around middle of the night / midnight. Was outside at 1 am it was really windy and temp was 8c it felt quite mild!
