Genuinely snowing here now, quite big flakes as well
That's improved my mood. A bit, anyway.

EPIC snowfall here in Knowle, at least three inches in the past couple of hours & still coming down!
EPIC performance from Villa tonight, 5-1 winners (Benteke hat-trick) - Wembley here we come!
Note : neither of the above statements may be factually correct.

Half-time update:
Zero snow here in Knowle from what I can tell, despite what the radar suggests.
Temp +0.4, DP -0.2
Villa leading 1-0 (Benteke) - c'mon Villa!!!!

Green blob over me, nowt falling though, same old, same old.
Serves you right, for bringing back bad Villa memories from the past!
Righto, I'm off to watch the first hour or so of the match - I'll be back once the game is abandoned due to blizzard conditions at Villa Park......

The northern band looks like its intensifying though so may produce something for areas further north, anything in Solihull area yet?
Nothing so far. Looks like we'll have to wait for the heavier bands to arrive

apart from the snow i hope by 10pm i will be able to come here and say i can get my tickets to the cup finals 2-1 to villa.
If it ends up 2-1 Villa then we're out aren't we??? 1st leg was 3-1 to Bradford.......

Oh no, it's one of those bands of snow that has phantom precip on the leading edge. That means that if it's not even reached Banbury yet when the radar says it is knocking on Leicester's doorstep... The actual band won't make it this far tonight.
Nooooo don't say that Andy! Keep the faith!

Blimey it's approaching fast - when I sat down about an hour ago the northern edge was still over Banbury.
Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing really.

Just realised - falling snow tends to mess up my Sky reception, and tonight Villa are playing Bradford City in the League Cup semi 2nd leg.
Actually, being a Villa fan, it might be a blessing in disguise if I can't view the match!!!

I'm adopting the attitude that, like Sunday, even a few extra snowflakes will be considered a major bonus.
Very little has thawed here the past couple of days so any overnight snow, no matter how light, will simply be a welcome top-up

Thanks Luke / Picog - could be very interesting in that case, as it looks quite beefy at the moment. Even if it loses some of its intensity as it travels northwards, it could still provide us with some fun & games by the looks of it

I'm trying to work out where "our" overnight snow might currently be on the radar - perhaps the PPN which is now moving in across the south east?
Very difficult to work out at the moment.

Oh how nice it would be for that mass of heavy snow in the south to make it here, Friday remains a confusing one, it really wouldn't take much of an upgrade to end up in a snowfest of a breakdown like the 00z showed, atm 1-2c and heavy cold rain seems more likely though.
Yuck, two words that really don't belong in the same sentence - "cold rain"
Just look at all that beautiful heavy snow currently ploughing through the south-west - up until a couple of days ago, that had our names on it.

Yes another radar watching event! I think we will miss out here this time but I can't really complain
An earlier poster mentioned the latest GFS charts showing the PPN creeping into the East Midlands as well, so you never know!

Latest BBC forecast looks very promising for overnight & tomorrow morning for all areas south and west of Brum
Those of us more to the east side of Brum will need to keep our fingers crossed & stay glued to the radar by the look of things.

Another light dusting overnight, and the temp got down as low as -4.6 just before eight this morning
Currently -3.7 with hazy cloud.

UKMO going at heavy snow Wednesday Evening/Night things seem to be springing up from nowhere.
Hmmm..............interesting, very interesting indeed. Something to keep our collective eye on.

What sort of time could this be please ? Just trying to be brave enough to put my foot out the door and drive from Studley to Birmingham to work. I should finish around 4pm , so dont mind if the chance of snow is after that.
I suffer with anxiety attacks, and the thought of it snowing whilst Im stuck at work kills me , as I worry about being stuck in traffic trying to get home .... so sorry to be a pain guys
If we do see any snow, I can't see it being especially heavy to be honest. I believe areas to the south and west are more firmly in the firing line than the Midlands

Sunshine here for the first time in what seems ages. Forgotten what it looks like!
Current temp is 0.7, with a DP of -1.5

Still light snow here but the brighter skies now approaching! Would expect temps to plummet tonight
Excellent if that could happen - the one thing missing from this cold spell so far.
If most of us do indeed miss out on some extra snow tomorrow, then plunging night-time temps would be a nice consolation

Very light snizzle here as well. Better than nothing I guess

yeah, that was a good one, and 21st Feb '10
Hmmm, I don't remember that one? Maybe I just missed out here.
Good call re Feb 2007 by the way - that was our first significant snowfall here for about six years.

Modest snow still coming down here, nice biggish flakes which are settling nicely.
Temp is +0.4 and DP 0.0 so very marginal at present.
