  1. Crikey, the temperature has now soared up to 10.6°C here - the first time we have reached double-digits since 20th February. Bish
  2. And then the first 20°C day, and then the first 25°C day, and then............. Bish
  3. An excellent summary, @Arctic Hare I think this winter just about qualifies for an 8/10 for me, two excellent cold snowy spells and not so much grey, mild muck compared to the past few winters. The sun has just emerged here as well, which should well & truly zap the snow. Bish
  4. Farewell Beastie! Thank you for the lovely memories! Some fairly heavy rain here this morning, resulting in very misty conditions. Just noticed the temperature here has finally edged above 5°C for the first time in exactly a week. Bish
  5. I think my local weather station (Monkspath) is having one of its funny turns tonight, it's been showing the exact same temperature (-1.9°C) for almost four hours now! Bish
  6. Exactly! Today + Yesterday + mid-December = our first excellent winter since 2012/13 Bish
  7. Keep the faith, still plenty of time for this to edge further northwards! No reason why pretty the whole of the Midlands shouldn't see some of the action by this evening Bsh
  8. Much bigger flakes now, so beautiful to watch falling from the sky Bish
  9. Really coming down now, and the flakes are certainly a bit more sizeable than what we saw yesterday. Currently -1.3°C with a dp of -4.6°C. We fleetingly edged just above 0°C earlier, thus depriving us of our third successive ice day Bish
  10. Light snow here in Knowle, with some occasional heavier pulses. The wind is really noticeable again, like yesterday. Bish
  11. This is a proper blizzard now. No doubt about it. Epic stuff! Bish
  12. Absolutely belting it down here, very fine flakes but really blowing about in the wind. Beautiful to watch from within the cosy indoors! Currently -2.7°C with a dp of -4.7°C Bish
  13. I cannot believe what I am seeing outside right now! One of our neighbours has decided to have one of his tallest trees - a massive Silver Birch - taken down. So right now I am currently watching some muppet of a tree surgeon dangling about 30ft off the ground waving a chainsaw about, in borderline blizzard conditions. Absolute insanity!!!!! Bish
  14. Yes, in fairness there is still time for it to nudge NW. But the eastern extent should mean that more of us are likely to get in on the action that was previously thought. Not a direct hit, but a hefty glancing blow Bish
  15. Looking at the radar, I reckon that large band of heavy snow currently moving up over the south coast is going to wallop most of the Midlands later this evening. It's already too big and too far east for it not to. Bish
  16. Exactly! And within the next 3 months or so we may well record our first 25°C temperature of 2018 - that's what I love about the UK weather, the contrasts and the unpredictability Bish
  17. Seems odd to be reading "game over" comments on here - at midday it's currently -4°C outside with a howling wind and steady persistent snow. This "game" has barely even been taken out of its box, let alone come to a finish! Bish
  18. Snowing quite steadily here again now, even though the main band of ppn seems to be fragmenting somewhat as it moves in. At least everything is white outside now! Currently -3.7°C with a dp of -7.7°C Bish
  19. Morning all Very surprised to see the radar this morning, I thought this wasn't supposed to develop until much later this afternoon. Or is that still a separate thing? Very dull here with a howling wind and steady persistent snow. Currently -4.4°C with a dp of -7.3°C Bish
  20. Wow the wind suddenly seems to have whipped up from nowhere. It must be absolutely perishing out there right now - not intending to find out at first hand! Bish
  21. We fleetingly got up to -0.3°C at around 13:30 or so, but it soon dropped back down once the showers finally started to reach us. Currently -2.6°C with a dp of -6.4°C and snowing heavily Bish
  22. Great to see you posting on here, GP. And thank you for all of your excellent contributions to the wider forum over the years, hugely appreciated Bish
  23. Those showers out to the east look very promising - trouble is, I was saying exactly the same thing hours ago! Bish
  24. Morning all! What a bone-chillingly cold night that was, we eventually got down to exactly -6.0°C here in the end For once I was actually happy to see it cloudy & dull when I opened the curtains this morning, yesterday got a bit frustrating watching the sun zap whatever snow had managed to make it this far. So do we reckon those showers out to the east will make it across to our region? Bish
