  1. Plymouth looks to be having a rumble or two in the last 15 mins
  2. Thats the problem with forums, any whiff of a storm and people sit in front of their computers all day and once their bum goes numb their brain soon follows. Its still very early yet.
  3. Well that's the car filled up and windscreen Rain X'ed. So ready to hit the road, sadly my 3 dongle is playing up again but its so old its carved out of stone. Anyway I have not been able to sort out my laptop charging problem in the car so it looks as if i will chasing in the old days, using the mark 1 eye ball. Because I have no com's I think I will see how things develop before hitting the road.
  4. Just been looking at that. I think a plan might be to let it come to me then follow it. I best go and fill the car up in a bit.
  5. I am really stuck on what to do today. Whether to start heading east into Kent or East Anglia or stay put on the south coast and hope something happens later today. Problem is my laptop is not charging up through the converter in the car so once the laptop is dead I am stuck with only my mobile.
  6. Looking at the radar I don't see anything other than light drizzle coming up from France, more to come of what we have had all evening. And as for storms, No chance The best storms in Europe this evening have been in Germany and off the coast of Denmark.
  7. 2005 and 2006 were both great years for thunder storms. June 2005 saw the two most active storms since IofW Weather was formed. There were so many active thunder days in both years. I think I won the NW thunderstorm contest in 2005 but i cant remember the number of storms I had. I think it was in the mid to high 30s and most of the storms were very active, a lot more than now. Paul S might still have the records, I don't know.
  8. I cant remember the exact figure but I think there were well over 100 building struck in Hampshire and a number of fires started by lightning. I miss judged the storm, i was expecting it to pass over Chichester Harbour but it came straight over Portsmouth. I walked over to Eastern Road to watch it and got caught out by it. I spent most the night crouched under the sea wall. I saw the collage get hit and a couple of lamp posts at the eastern road junction to the collage. Even saw an Ambulance get hit. It was one hell of a night. My wife was crapping herself because the power and mobile phones were knocked out and she realized I was out in it and could not get in contact with me.
  9. 19 08 2005 The night Portsmouth collage on eastern road was struck by lightning. I was sat on the shore there and a strike hit the ground around 20 feet in front of me i saw lightning spider webbing up the beach towards me. The flash was so bright it completely over exposed the photo I was taking. I thought i was dead lol.
  10. Oh I don't know, at least a dog barks! Why don't we have storms like this anymore? This was from the storm that tried to Kill me! And if i remember correctly Paul had a close shave too with a streamer only feet away which he only saw once he looked back at the photos! that was one hell of a night.
  11. Jane don't bother it aint that great although it gives a wider field of view you need to refresh it of each sweep.
  12. A better one here http://www.camvista.com/watch-live-video/europe/france/paris_panorama_streaming_webcam.html
  13. LOL time will tell strikes on one sferic does not make a storm nothing showing up on Blids or IofW Sferics. At least thats not a 120 mile drive but a 20 mile drive!
  14. Where the hell did that come from. Lightning has just popped up around the IorW on Icelandic Sferic! Anyone local can confirm this?
  15. Oh there is no doubt about the rain but its a bust on thunder I fear! I don't fancy a 120/200+ mile round trip for just rain although I would consider it if I thought it would be biblical in quantity!
  16. I don't often call it but I think tonight is going to be a big bust. Oh well the Boss will be happy because i will be available for work tomorrow although it aint a huge problem as I can be as flexible as I like.
  17. In deed. I am waiting for the 12z to come out to see if it is worth making the 120 mile round trip to Beachy Head. I don't want to make the same mistake as last night an stay local to see where the storms would come ashore. I got a good show but i left it too late to move to Brighton I should have just headed to Beachy Head when I decided to go and chase! Oh well thats the best part of the chase trying to get the right location. And let be honest the storms have not been overly great recently!
  18. Right i am up and ready for round two do i stay put here and hope for something later today or do I head for Bristol area of old Avon in the hope to pick up those storms. Hmmm Thats a long way though to miss them.
  19. I am a fool, i had quite a nice show out in the channel from selhurst park and my last post was that i was going to move west to Portsdown hill but at 3 am ish I moved east to Brighton what a fool i am! I should have stayed put or went to Portsdown at least i could have had a burger then!NMM was spot on though, i should have watched that instead of letting myself being swayed by what was being said on the forum. Off to bed now for a couple of hours!
