  1. I'm really crossing my fingers for a school snow day <lazy> but they do tend to open grrr.
  2. Does anyone else get an urge to go for a wee walk in snow, even if it's 2am
  3. Can't believe the lights will go out soon <shakes fist> the big b........
  4. I lived in the NE for 22 years, SE for 9 years and this winter has had the most hours of falling snow in my memory, although only took any notive after feb 2009 tbh, because snow before that was almost none existant (as an adult).
  5. Still find it amazing that I went to the shop at 6pm, chucking it down, massive puddles and everything, it's all white out there now. Heaviest snow since dec 2010, that was amazing though, only snowed for a little while and about 8 inches fell, although feb 2009 was deeper. Would take this winter over most tbh, even though it hasn't been anything spectacular.
  6. Been snowing since 7pm here, I'm amazed any has stuck, it was utterly soaking beforehand, heaviest snowfall I have seen for a couple of years
  7. Whatever happens, that is the heaviest precipitation I have seen with an incoming front on the rain today radar (only been looking since 2009 though)
  8. If all of the snow that fell today had laid it would have been deeper than both the friday and sunday events combined, much bigger flakes and more intensity, obviously more marginal though.
  9. Bit of a blob just appeared near to us, I can't even lampost watch because they turn them off the gits.
  10. That would be sweet irony, been an odd day here tbh, snowed most of the day, the heaviest we have seen of the cold spell, hardly any settled though. Quite a bit of snow from friday/sunday remains though.
  11. Is there not a massive blob of incoming snow in this area?
  12. My previous residence was Boro, seeing as the precipitation has gone bye bye from here I shall sit and watch what I would have had here lol Such a saddo.
  13. I have just watched the documentary, how did the north east of england fare??? My parents would have been teenagers in 63, but tbh I don't remember either of them mentioning it? I was born in 81 and the stories of only a coal fire in one room to keep you warm and thick ice inside the windows was my reality until my teens. I remember lots of snow in my childhood, but nothing major like described in the documentary. I grew up in Middlesbrough and I reckon my parents certainly would hve mentioned it if it was very extreme.
  14. The last 2 times we have had snow in this area all of the available forecasts have said rain/drizzle. I remember looking out of the window at 6inches of snow, then looking at the forecasts which all said rain, tis all dog biscuits, what will be will be.
  15. Does Hertfordshire count as SE/EA? Sorry I have only lived here for a few years, some websites class it as East of England, others the SE, tbh I have to look it up on a map to know where I am half the time . Feb 2009 with the Thames streamer was it? We got a big dumping from that in Rickmansworth, doesn't seem from the above posts that typical???
  16. Still about an inch or so in Rickmansworth (just about in the m25, can see it from my window) small fakes still faling heavily though, enough fopr a snowman I reckon, which is the most important part
  17. About an inch or so here in Rickmansworth, chucking it down now, stil smaliish flakes. Daughter can't sleep because she is so excited, we usually do quite well with snow, but forecasts for here are dire, probably because there isn't a weather station very near.
