Seems to have quietened down again here now, not much convective growth as yesterday but then again it is not as humid.
-
One of yesterdays pulse cells.
Looking like I could be in for a similar day today looking at the radar, have one cell nearby with electrical activity on it.
-
3 blew through today but they were all like this, very noisy but not photogenic at all.
Flashes brief and faint but noisy thunder and lots of rain.
-
Storm number 2 also produced many flashes like this one, very little structure, you would just see a flash then hear the bang.
-
Storm number 2 just blew through and I got some footage of this one, will edit that later.
-
-
Storm seems to be losing its strength now, got heavy rain now but no thunder, was throwing them out at a rate of about one a minute earlier on but it has since gone quiet.
-
Been rumbling away here for the last 15 mins or so, starting to hear that tearing of paper sound with them now so it is definitely getting closer.
Wasn't expecting to see electrical activity this early in the day.
-
Can see that Manchester cell to my southwest, classic anvil shaped storm.
-
Looks like that area stratching from north Wales is oragnizing itself in to a line.
-
Heavy rain here a moment ago but now the sun is out again, strange.
Had an almost pulse storm like feel to it but no electrical activity.
-
Hmm so close to my area now and I can see large anvil clouds and towers all around me, now am I actually going to see something other than rain this time?
Pfft.
-
Been outside looking north in to the active area but can't see any strikes, too much rain.
-
That cell to my west has become electrified and I can see it is pitch black in that direction, lets see what happens..
-
North west is the area to watch over the next few hours it seems, these showers could well develop in to something.
-
-
Strike on that cell to the east of me, I know because I heard it.
-
That sky looks anything but stable now, I can see mammatus clouds underneath it.
-
Me from the looks of it, I'm right in their track.
Lets see if the hills here force intensification as that does happen frequently with this kind of setup.
It is getting very dark here now as well though it feels very calm.
-
Do you think North West England will catch any storms today?
Very possible yes as there is already stuff forming and there is a small area of convergence here at the moment.
-
Some showers bubbling up in the north west, I'll be keeping an eye on those.
The convection here today is quite strong, as is the sun so it could be an interesting day.
-
Hmm, I'm not convinced. I think the line of radar returns are it, and they are pushing northwards and eastwards.
I think you may be right there as the main convergence zone is in the wrong place, then again there is a small amount here so I'm not going to rule it out for the night just yet.
Though I'm not going to be hanging around with the camera hoping for it, I think I'm just going to sack the idea and go to the pub unless something materializes in the next hour.

Look at Ireland.

Been watching these storms on the extra radar, so slow moving.
These are just convection formed through today remember, the main band isn't here yet.
In any case I'm not convinced by this fresher weather prediction, I get a weird feeling that we may have even more chances at storms through the week.

Made this album public so more people can see it, these are personal shots I took with my tablet computer while in SA recently as part of a film crew.
Enjoy!
