  1. Yes. That's been largely what's driven my unremitting depression: this was a real chance for something special, and those chances don't come along often. And every other sod seemed to get lucky! Ah, well, at least some snow to play in today.
  2. The range of types of snow is bizarre - graupel, fine flakes, chunky flakes. No rhyme nor reason - sometimes jackpot, other times frustrating to "waste" a big blob on graupel!
  3. I was just thinking that. It's the opposite of yesterday. I'd love to understand what determines this. Certainly pepping up.
  4. Very true. And that's really interesting what you say about the air source and how that impacts stability. Something I wouldn't have thought about had I not been spamming the thread with non-celebratory posts...
  5. Not sapping the fun at all. Certainly not spamming. We can enjoy what we've got, but also be capable of being a bit objective about it, can't we? I didn't think a weather forum had to limit itself to "yay there's a snow shower" posts. Stick me on ignore if you don't want to read my posts, mate.
  6. Yep. We were luckier than you guys, but even those areas that got hit last night, let's face it, it was still due to a handful of showers that hit. The way it was being talked about, I expected the N Sea to be much more active last night/this morning. 2 or 3 inches is really not great when you think how the inches pile up with a properly active N Sea. Last night rescued something, but it doesn't change the fact that pretty much everywhere down the East has done better than us, which is shocking given the synoptics.
  7. Yes. Probably another 2 inches on top of what we had - so about 4 altogether. Looks like that's it after today for this spell, though. Mild by Monday according to meto. Cold one tonight. Might be hard getting to a sledging spot today given roads.
  8. I'll get to bed at some point. Very little development of any note apart from that strip that's now approaching. Seriously - this can't be as good as people hoped for the region.
  9. Going to bed. I see a good night for a narrow band around the Toon. Apart from that, this radar is getting worse, not better. Let's at least be honest about it: objectively it's poor for the region as a whole.
  10. I've been getting sent pics from Kent all day and thinking exactly that! And it's a damn sight better than a motor boat! Anyway, a good hour or two before anything hits Durham south, so might turn in.
  11. That's pretty much the point I've been making. It IS good for Newc and Tyneside, but looking at the region as a whole, sorry, but CURRENTLY it's poor. Not saying it won't improve, but as it stands, nah.
