  1. Memories of 1996. 12 hours of snowfall, 1ft of level snow, massive drifts and a week off work ,after a 6 hr drive back home from Sellafield ,including the Friday when the rain came and washed it all away.
  2. It was -6C at 7.00am when I took the wife to work. Looks like there is a chance of a few snow showers clipping the coast later. I can’t say I’m looking forward to the change back to mild ,wet and windy at the weekend.
  3. Just got back into the warm.It feels a different level of cold tonight after a brilliantly sunny day with a cloudless sky.I’ve seen few forecasts which have showers clipping the Cumbrian coast tomorrow but usually I just “enjoy” seeing them hitting the I.O.M on their way down to the Gap!
  4. Snowing and laying no problem here. That big clump of snow over Ireland looks to be heading this way.Hopefully it will stay as snow.
  5. Your not wrongIt has updated and the precip has disappeared! Nothing showing outside either.
  6. If this is anywhere near accurate then I should be seeing some falling snow very soon.
  7. Also apparently we do not live in the “populated” areas of England!!!!
  8. Crazy situation in the south of the County with us on the West Coast virtually dry all day apart from a few flurries. Hopefully everyone stranded can seek shelter until everything improves. l have just noticed an area of precip developing to the SW of the Isle Of Man which seems to be moving towards us, is this the reason for the Amber warning?
  9. Torrential rain from a line of showers forming off the Isle Of Man.Its certainly a lot fresher out there now.
  10. Few flashes and heavy rain from this. Wind has increased and the smell of petrichor.
  11. Really warm and humid here now although it’s a lot fresher down at Whitehaven harbour. Clouds bubbling up nicely, it’ll be interesting to see if anything comes my way this evening. Camera charged and ready.
  12. Damage in Whitehaven from last nights wind. It really was ferocious for a while and it seems it was a narrow band of strong wind as people in Workington and Cockermouth only a few miles further north didn’t experience anything like we had.
  13. The wind just went crazy for about 20 minutes, really violent gusts and what felt like ice pellets .I’ve just moved my car as it was next to a tree with it’s trunk visibly shaking.I looked on the radar expecting to see a squall line !
