If you live in woodingdean/hollingbury or at elevation somewhere i’d be rather cautious with how far you go...I’m sure by 9pm if there’s more you than a MM of snow it’ll be CHAOS and public transport will be buggered!
I live near the race hill and I’m in town till 9 so I’m anticipating a possible nightmare getting home
My thoughts too, I’m near hollingbury and due to go to hove but back before 9. You are right about the mm of snow causing chaos....

Still no signs of flakes or anything else here half a mile from the coast of Brighton, ominous clouds in the channel
I’m in Brighton, just deciding whether to head out this evening or not my met office app says heavy snow from 7pm
-
The sun is shining here in Brighton, wind has died down but still gusting every now and then. I am completely surprised to see the leaves are still on the trees around and they are still standing - very odd! Trees have fallen across the city

hi bright
the low is expected to get stronger as it crosses the uk
when it gets to north of yarmouth the southern part of the low is likely to have tighter isobars
this is what is likely to cause norfolk-yarmouth areas a problem as it leaves the uk
Thank you

If I am understanding this right, from that fax chart the low is moving along the predicted line the met office gave and the winds will go with it (beneath the line) all the way until it gets to Norfolk!? How does the intensity work? (I am a complete novice)
-
I don't think it's going to get much worse than it is now for us down along the S.Coast.
I am very happy to hear you say that ! I hope its correct, I was under the impression the strongest winds were for around 5am
-
I am in Brighton, away from the seafront but with enough trees around to create big howling sounds as the gusts happen - I have no idea whether this is full strength or not, I am suspecting not and not liking this much either 2810lollypop

Yes, wailing is the word! Seems to have picked up earlier than forecast
-
Tobermory - I am near Fiveways, Preston Park, top of the hill. Very good Suffolkboy

My lights are flickering and yes, the gusts are stronger and earlier
-
The winds have picked up here in Brighton with steady rain, gusts fairly strong, I measure them by the sounds coming down the chimney and the leaves on the trees are fairly noisy! Nothing stronger than we had mid afternoon - not yet
-
Is it just a flurry or more sustained? Flakes are smaller now and settling on my grass
-
Big fat flakes in North Brighton - wasn't expecting that
-
Ha Ha, they only last 30min max in ANY amount of snow . HillsLooks like Brighton Buses are giving up:
-
I tweeted the met office, telling them the rain was actually wet snow in brighton - they advised most likely sleet turning to rain later
edit: I don't believe them!
-
It's changing here, now wet huge flakes again, it is covering the roads, not sure it is accumulating though. A dusting so far that is probably melting and then getting covered again
-
6-10"!!! I think I will exit now, as I had kind of planned for a no snow/ice day, enjoy your enjoying
-
Sleet turned to wet snow - big flakes, don't think it is sticking. North Brighton near Preston Park
-
Snowing persistantly since around 8am with periods of heavier snow. This is the back garden, north Brighton.

Has this snow map been posted today? Contradicts the amber warning area a bit. It was posted about 4 hrs ago
-
thanksI'm referring to the snow currently making it's way from the West, not the main event tomorrow
-
Snow showers incoming from the West will be light to slightly heavy
Is that tomorrow? Gritters at the ready? Conflicting info re heavy/light down here on the coast, confused, as many people seem to be!
just spotted your previous comment 10cm for Croydon - guess this is slow, ongoing constant snow. Will never forget the year before last (think it was) when 10-15cm fell in a couple of hours!
-
Oh and the cold, is it set to stay? thank you

Can anyone update me on the snow potential for this week, I am getting confused Am I right in thinking tonight is far east of the area and in the morning snow turning to rain for most as the front moves west to east.
Potential for snow later in the week due to warm meeting cold air???
