I understand, 18c is above average for April for here but we usually do get some spring warmth by now,
I totally agree with you there. We are definitely due something prolonged and above average after enduring a perpetual Autumn for what seems like forever.
Trouble is warmer air and warmer SST’s allow more moisture into the air, develops more cloud and with winds sourced from the Atlantic direction being our default weather source, this equates to said cloud heading in our direction and more rain as we’ve been seeing for an age now. That’s not to say there won’t be exceptions or breaks in the pattern, there hopefully will, just that like getting snow in winter, it’s ruddy hard work!!

Anything below 18c personally I do not class as warm and we’ve only reached that twice this spring but at least we have received some sun even though It’s going to take some more sun to reach aprils monthly average amounts than is currently forecast to reach.
In April you’re going to get plenty of days below 18c though as that’s normal for April. I’m not really a temperature monitoring person so maybe someone will correct me, but I’m sure the average April temperature for Exeter is slightly below 18c.
I would totally agree that 18c in Summer would be poor though, especially within the recent warming trend.

Climate change has wrecked seasonality
That’s probably a rare statement that both summer lovers & winter lovers will agree on!!

2 springs on the trot where it’s been cool, not warm and not even average sunshine
It’s been warm for the most part to be fair, only recent days has it actually felt chilly here. It’s the lack of sunshine that’s made it so crap though, totally dull, overcast & devoid of actual weather most of the time.
Unfortunetly, bar the odd day here & there, that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon. RIP the 4 seasons of the year!

And now it’s started drizzling here!

The amount of times over the past few months there’s been “signs of a change in a couple of weeks”!
If only I were a betting man…….

Another grey, cloudy & dull start to the day here. Completely overcast and feeling cool. Feels colder than yesterday despite being dry today.

@*Stormforce~beka* You won’t find any sun inside a dark room. It’ll appear when you’re outside, I can see some blue sky in that little picture you posted above.
It’s fresh, you’ll need a jumper but it’s dry and there is sunshine about.

Cracking picture @Alderc 2.0. Enjoy it. Love the deep blue, clear skies. Same here, just need the air temp to increase by a few degrees and it would be perfect for mid April.

Another clear blue, sunny start to the day here. Last few days, despite being a tad on the fresh side, have been pretty decent overall really for mid April. Nout wrong with a NW’er here. More please but cut the breeze!

Weird fact of the day;
Uber doesn’t exist in Plymouth!

Lovely start to the day here. Absolutely clear blue skies and ample sunshine. Bit chilly so not perfect, but much better than most of the last 10 months or so.

Anyone else getting the feeling that a sudden heatwave will hit after this spell has passed?

Just had a strike & rumble over in the Heathrow direction.

On my way into London to pick up my job. Left Bath & it was glorious, sunny & warm enough out the breeze. Same at Chippenham, same at Swindon. Didcot was even better, almost clear blue skies & a warm sun shining.
Get to Reading and it’s now cloudy & raining. Looking east towards London and there are dark clouds and further rain visible. Makes a change for the SW to be better than the SE. Take me home please!!!

Much clearer skies here, as is often the case with winds from a northerly quadrant. A bit of fair weather cloud floating about but plenty of clear sunshine. None of this hazy crap of recent days.
Only niggle is the breeze is a bit nippy, taking the edge of the suns warmth. However, get out the breeze, into some shelter & it’s fine.

Sunnier here today, @Alderc 2.0, albeit still hazy but not quite as hazy as yesterday. Very warm for April though, temperature has been perfect for a while now.

A hazy, predominantly cloudy day IMBY today. Warm, very comfortable & respectable temperature, no complaints there, just would like the cloud that just HAS to be present in some form or another, daily, to just do one for a while. Would have been an absolute cracker if we had the blue skies to match the warm airmass IMBY.
Admittedly, much better still than recent weeks though, which isn’t really setting the bar very high.

Well, the good start to the day didn’t last too long. As always feared, we now have a thick layer of high level cloud pretty widespread, diminishing and sunshine to very very hazy levels.

Better start to the day here. Plenty more sunshine than yesterday with just some high level cloud spoiling the party. Much better though.
Will let the day unfold as I don’t want to speak too soon.

Still overcast along the Kennett Canal, albeit bright overcast if that makes any difference. Some hazy, clearer patches here & there. Feels muggy though.

It doesn’t take much or long to dry out & harden top soil. Water doesn’t hang around there too long and soon seeps down to subsoil & bedrock levels.
It’s why plants need watering regularly, even if the weather pattern isn’t particularly settled or dry.
