Model Output Discussion - the cold has arrived
P-M replied to Community Team's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
But you're one area 500ft above sea level. I'm no where near that and have had lying snow for almost a week now in North east England although my snow to yours is just a dusting. The point I was making is this isn't anything typical and like England the lower lying places in Scotland don't typically see lying snow in December and winter etc as some posts suggest. Great that you've had a decent fall though! -
Model Output Discussion - the cold has arrived

I don't know where people get this "typical North South split" from with standard affair of snow across Scotland. There's mountains up there but there's also large swathes that get nothing in terms of snow and cold and in recent years I'd say there's been a massive decline. This December is anything but standard and the NH is anything but typical. Models showing a milder blip from Sunday but where we go from there is anyone's business. Even met forecasters are scratching their heads it seems. So hold tight and enjoy the ride. We have some good options or potentials among the runs and ensembles so I'm going to remain glass half full for now.
