Just received confirmation from a mate that part of her roof has blown off in Fullwell, Sunderland. Thought the winds were dying down but appears not!!!

To be fair there has been a fair bit of damage (wind) around the North East too but I hadn't noticed until reading the reports, even thought it has been a wild day. It just shows the extent of this storm system considering the eye is miles away from us. River levels continuing to rise along the Tyne now due to peak around 11pm so hopefully Corbridge might be spared?

The River Tyne 10 miles west of the city has broken it's previous record for river height. Storm damage to some buildings in Newcastle due to the winds and some reports that the River Wear has burst it's banks in Durham city centre according to Chronicle. Also reports of a house end collapse in North Tyneside - some serious weather about this evening albeit not as bad as Cumbria. Some shocking pictures coming out of there tonight - thoughts are with all affected, I can't imagine what it must be like to have a river flowing through your house. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/

Feel so sorry for the people flooded out and at risk of being flooded especially this time of year. Winds here are ramping up here consistent gusts but nothing too severe yet. I see the me meto have issued an amber alert for the wind here now. Stay safe peeps it's a wild day out there!

Winds really ramping up across Washington in Tyne and Wear now. Last gust I felt the whole house rattle. Not too strong though yet but looking more severe as the evening wears on and then again tomorrow night.

Ah cool mate was thinking there has something else popped up your way lol Aye it's looking that way from what people are saying but we have had a decent evening here so can't complain. Wish we had of had more but then being storm greedy I am always like that!

Absolutely pouring here roads are like rivers beautiful night time lightning - love it!

Torrential rain and some great night time lightning strikes here currently
