Was wild here about 3am. Wind screeching over the house and torrential rain. I swear I heard thunder somewhere but could have been half asleep.
Think it was associated with the squall line.

Things starting to pick up across South Tyneside now after a lull. Constant gusts although nothing too serious just yet....

I might have spoken too soon. Becoming very lively out there now!

Had a few gusts earlier but now it's nothing more than a windy night.
Not sure if it'll reach any noticeable wind speed on south tyneside. I love a decent wind storm as well.

Just popped to my mams at Whitburn and some canny strong gusts coming through now.
Worst of the winds not expected for a few hours in these parts yet.
-
Very light dusting here overnight but that's it. Blooming freezing out there though!

I can confirm light rain here in south tyneside.
I see the next potential chase is on, this time for the beast which is far more exciting in my opinion than a northerly.

Moderate snow in Ashington at work. Nice little surprise but if I'm honest is this what we're scraping around for

Currently showing a batch moving more to the South of our region. There is a more solid looking clump to the West over S Scotland headed our way, but slowly. Could be here, if at all, by about 4 or 5 ish?
If we're lucky mate

Was on the beach in Seaburn with the dogs this morning and I thought it was pretty mild (compared to yesterday). It was actually colder here last night at 7pm than it was this morning.
Not expecting anything here plus I'm working in Ashington today so doesn't look hopeful if you take the radar at face value. Maybe tonight though.

Snow here in south tyneside too. I'm sort of hopeful the northerly might deliver lol

I don't know what the issue is. People declaring mild by the weekend. It's been forecast for days now plus the Meto allude to it. Besides that, they also mention a chance of colder conditions again after.
I think people forget these are computer models and don't make the weather it will do what it does.
But the fact is we have a week of cold weather coming up and anything can happen as per previous cold spells.

Howay Tim you've been here years. Look at 2010 the depth of cold spun off many different features. Not saying this will be 2010 but the 850s forecast are bound to throw up some disturbances in the flow.
At the end of the day the weather will do what the weather will do. But we'd have sold our Nannas for charts like this in recent years.

Can't see how any of those showers will make it to land from the North Sea considering XC weather has the wind coming from the opposite direction.
Forecast says North easterly airflow so God knows what's happened tonight.

It is just so still though isn't it, hence the freezing fog, they are very slow moving, edging in to the coast but losing momentum.
I hope they get a move on soon though it's like pulling teeth

Those showers don't seem to be moving much at all it's weird.
