  1. 7th day when we reach over 20c for my part near Paris , and 5days in a row over 20c really getting warm this month of May March Today right on 21c a bit less than previous days and top temp so far for March an impressive 23.6c on the 16th which was a daily record since 1880, would had been on the 15th it would have been the warmest temp for a first half of March.
  2. Hazy here in Paris and a warning has been issued for strong pollution and speed limits have been put down by 20kms per hour on all roads in the whole of Paris area. Radars take that into account!!!meaning all drivers caught just above the usual speed limits will get tickets anyway on their way!!! i don't care as i don't have a car!!! No wind at all and temp nearing 21c already .We will probably go above 22C as still rising quite nicely now.
  3. Third day of May March where we go well over the 20c mark in Paris today with a top temp of 21c Started sunny , late afternoon high clouds almost blocking the sun but they quickly went away. Only the minimum reminds us we are not in summer with a low of 7c at nearest Météo-France station near me I had 5c! Park near my home is getting really dry!!
  4. Well we just have to hope that summer will bring some nice thundery showers and lightning with it!!!summer? are we not in summer yet?????20cs or more forecasted for the next 7days in Paris someone can tell me we are not in summer?
  5. some astonishing temps in Canada and nothreastern Usa.Srping is well under way over there!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Great day here in Paris with top temp reaching 23.5c and daily record ; Not saying much see the map Paris area was near the 25c pocket:
  7. well here you can see a pocket of 25c which was near the greatest Paris areea we were close to have a 25c.A 25.6c was recorded in Nemours which is about 35 miles south east of Paris.
  8. Well am at work and not enjoying it though but hopefully will a bit after work . Just did enjoy my lunch out and parcs were all full!!!!!!!!!!
  9. But temp still rising so may not be the end of it .Splendid day here !!!! Sorry guys.
  10. I know it is only just anecdotic but we have just broke a daily record in Paris at 21.4c previous highest temp for a 15th march was in 1884!!!!!. Only one day before a 15th march was higher than this and it was on the 11th March 1880 at 22.5c ( not sure if that really counts).
  11. well not far from summer temps, uk average that is!!! in Southwest France : the Drought is getting really serious in the south It is to note that on Friday this warm will reach Paris area nearing 22c on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Just returned from a 2 days business trip to Strasbourg near Germany and clear skies all the way on the ride on the train . Hazy though here in Paris and when i left Strasbourg.I was not in Paris yesterday but it was better than today as not hazy as today.Tomorrow certainly will be a splendid day nearing 18c and friday we could get our first 20c or over maybe!!!!
  13. Don't know about my favorite one for me but if a month like August 2003 comes back i will try( i emphasize on try) to enjoy it if i get air cond in my flat , at work and always catch an air con train. I remember i was doing the contrary to what we all do in summer .When waking up i immediately closed windows and shutters even at 7 am before going to work Was back 2hours before sunset but was keeping my flat all shut from outside till well after 11 pm . Also i was just starting to enjoy outside just really around 11pm!Certainly i was not staying more than 3mins under the sun when out for lunchtime. But then at same time as a weather lover was glad to go trough it and hope to get one month like that again!!!crazy me!!!!!!
  14. For my area ( Orly Airport near Paris and not Paris as usually 1c above) 20c : 25th March 25c : 27th April 30c : 15th june 35c : Somewhere early July. Not unusual to see 20c late march here . Last few yeas we have been used to first 25c in April like 2007 then 2008 a near miss at 24.7c then 2010 and 2011 so 3 in a row???? 30c : all june months have seen a 30c plus since 2001 exept 2008.( did not checked if 30c hapenned earlier than june) 35c has been reached last year that is 2011 and in 2009 ,2006 , 2003 and 2002 then near miss in 2010 and 2005 2004 and 2001 ( 1c or less 2001 for a tiny 0.1c!!!!) So it is not so unusual Ps Paris Station is a bit warmer than Orly Airport so probably 35c been reached more years than Orly.
  15. It is the same for my area may be even worse : even with the last couple of days on 23rd 12.2c and on the 24th an impressive 15.9c for my location, yesterday 10.9c We are still up to the 25th February at an average max of 4.4c and average low of -2.6c Really the cold wave saved IT ALL!!!!!!!! Ps just about Friday ( 23rd ) evening there was still some tiny layer of ice left on lakes ( in shades that is) !!!
  16. same map one hour earlier is better :
  17. Not bad today most of a great Southeast of UK had temps nearing those on the Cote d'Azur ( riviera) Locally 22c in the Southeast in France , not bad considering the cold wave of barely 13 days ago For my location near Paris a grey grey grey day with a top temp of 12.6c , really compared to the cold wave, well am speechless..................
  18. For my area , i am really lucky to have had the 12 day cold wave.Still yesterday evening , i was crossing a park and saw a lake still with a thin layer of ice that 6 days after end of freeze!!!! Although we missed out the snow for my area , ok had 2cm here, would it had not been for this cold wave , this winter was to be forgotten. But many areas in France will remember Winter 2012 for and only thanks to this 12 day period. I just take what is offered at me!!!!No chance for an average month here, even if anomaly will be up a a tiny bit It is in sharp ( cannot find a stronger word!!) contrast with December National anomaly +2c and January +1.5c ( locally much higher of course) Ps Anomaly based on 1971-2000.
  19. You certainly are right Scorcher for the air quality and the fact that there are not much extremes. To be honest i find the UK ( really staying in the broad sense) Climate fairly to very good in general for visiting .But then you certainly don't come to a country like UK for the Weather. I have.been to many countries close and far away. but Uk got a special palce for me .Don't know , like your first love!!!!may be because i have always tried to understand its culture .If you like a place , its people, the culture , you like it despite dull , boring weather then good weather is a bonus.Should i add a bit like in a couple ??????? Ok you may find me crazy here. Ps if i wanted to travel for the weather only oh boy , would certainly try to go to Siberia in Winter or way up north of Canada.Usa plains in sring( hoping to see tornados), Hot middle east countries in Summer, to experience extremes but UK( France just right above!!!) a would be my last country!!!!!!! In all , whatever the weather i always keep an open mind.So no your weather is not so terrible. Will not speak about food, it i not subject here...... Off i am now to Paris enjoying a dull grey sky and mild afternoon
  20. Same thing here , many days in summer ,you got people complaining it is just 25c in Paris and in the South it is 30c to 35c locally higher There is this strong belief that once you have crossed the Loire river , you get more sunshine( for center France) which is not really verified although you have to take all geographical situations. The Atlantic side is much sunnier than my area South of the Nantes area they get a good 2000 hours( average per year ) of sunshine. .And totally aggreed on all posts Paris deos not to better for sunshine than London. Météo-France sometimes describe the climate here as Degraded oceanic ( or other way around?) not sure about the translation;Hope you get my meaning sorry Also For 1951-1980 period : Preps average is 630 mm here which is below avearage Nationaly ( 750mm) but the number of rainy days is higher than national average(average 160 to 170 days in Paris) that is almost one day out of 2!!!!!!!!
  21. Been many times to the UK ( different places and seasons) and comparing it to my location , don't think there is a real difference with Paris and what i have experienced Exept, and it is important, that cold waves or heat waves are better temperatures wise. Otherwise i can assure you , that you may find loads of people writing in this thread from the Paris area!!!I can also assure you that we can get many and many grey dull days like you across the channel. Not really sure about that but what i never experienced in UK are violent thunderstorms ( was i unlucky?) and seems we can get good ones here ( France) , this speaking Nationaly on this point. Ps the one thing i will always remember , long time ago i was in Northern Ireland during summer and experienced the 4 seasons in on day : hard rain all morning wondering what i was going to do all day!!!!!, then all of a sudden blue sky no clouds and feeling nice under sunshine, then clouds with brief sunny intervals and heavy showers feeling cold under them and to finish the day an evening on the cool side.Really was probably the only one time it hit me you can live 4 seasons in a single day in summer.
  22. Really hard to get from 12 days that were so cold and sunny and this week grey and grey and grey and temps just about average a bit over or a bit under!!!!!??? Guess it is a hard landing back to reality. Some lakes still have some ice on surface ( been defreezing since sunday night to monday morning and nto been freezing since!!!!!!)really gives out that ice was thick on small park lakes. Going to get a frost this weekend though, -2c forecasted for my suburbs!!!!!!!nice no?
  23. sorry that is in French but Météo-France do issue first data on cold wave and for them , it is the 5th stongest cold wave since 1947 , a brief summary is that there has been not many records breaking ( but many of them are very low!!!but in many places temps especially lows were near record for an extended period. Here is a chart from Météo-France :
  24. I am also to your side in thinking that it may be better in late February early March for snow or /and cold. I would always remember March 2005 when on the 1st we had a record -9c low temp in my area and 2 weeks later we had 22c daytime temp. Also prove the changeable month of March. Although
  25. Cannot find the week before but certainly is worth a look too!!
