It doesn’t matter if it’s 1cm or even 10 ft of snow/ or absolutely nothing. The weather will do what it wants . ‘The only big winners in a cold setup is the energy companies. They rub their hands together but not to keep them warm but in glee of how much profit they are going to rake in ?

My son leaves one of everything in the packet whether is a slice of meat in the fridge or a biscuit left in the packet. The best is the butter when the tub is left in the fridge and there’s not enough to even butter a slice of toast. So annoying.

Yuk hate milk, I eat my cereals dry. I do have those satchels of porridge, one box is pecan the other is blueberry , and the box that none of my kids will eat which is mine is the coconut porridge. You can bet if the house ran out of food except the items containing coconut my kids would starve lol

I don’t mind running out of tinned and cupboard as the deep freezer is nicely stocked. I think my lot would be complying about who used all the toilet roll, I’m sure they eat it with the rate they go through it ?

Europe are not even following there own model, they are waiting for a back track from the ecm.

Yes the nhs is underfunded. And money is really needed. I’m under going cancer treatment. But I count myself lucky that I have a roof over my head and food whenever I feel hungry and the amenities to make a nice hot drink. I think in so many years to come the nhs will no longer be an option with regards as free unless more funding goes into it. I was bought up to always consider others that are worse off and it how I have taught my own children. I buy the big issue as it goes to the homeless every little bit helps here and there. I donate on a monthly dad to great ormand street for Children And magpas air ambulance.

There are a load of empty building around my area and also an old hospital 20 miles up the road. Rather then sit there loooking an eye sore with graffiti it makes sense to change it into something that will be if a lot of people.

I understand we can not house them all. But how many building do you see empty ? With all the money our government send to Europe some of that could be used to create homeless shelters.

Europe have got some very cold temp but hopefully they have a better homeless system in place then what we have.

Yes it’s fun to watch and charts churning out that is a collies dream. If we could bank it we would. Snow is always hard to pin point even down to the last 6 hrs. I have seen that happen before. The problem is some people take it way to seriously and don’t like it when the mention of what can go wrong become very defensive.. IF and I mean a big IF this came off as the models are suggesting today then my concern is for our many homeless people.

I’m on about the depth of cold. Not the amount of snow

I agree we have been here many times for it to get to reliable time frame and it goes pear shaped. Yes different sort of set up but with still the same problems that can scupper it. The met offiice update was for the very cold air to be over us by the 1st of March now their update says the 4th So while the gfs model brings it in early the ikon / ukmo/ecm all have it taking longer normal a shortwave in the wrong place will push the cold back and that is shown on the gfs and ecm . I personally don’t see us getting the deep cold like the charts are churning out at the moment , anything can happen within 2 weeks which will bring us to the 4th of March There are a lot of excited peeps saying it’s nailed on ! It’s not as it can still change within 48hrs.

Latest met o update has us dry and coldest air although uncertain with regards to very cold not happening till the 5th March

What I hate is seeing Europe with huge amounts of snow and us with a few flakes in the wind near the coasts. The pesky short waves are going to send it all into Europe or for it to be pushed back

Hi steve we have shortwave popping up on the gfs and ecm this will shunt the cold back how could we still get the deep cold in with these short waves popping up between Denmark and Norway. ?

Sleety look at the 12z also ecm you will see the short wave.s this will push back the cold air and delay it. We have already had it pushed back and these short waves will push it back again. It was for this reason that the cold air needed to already be in place because the more it’s pushed back the more that can go wrong ( shortwave in wrong place ). So we need a miracle to get the easterly to our door and deliver the goods rather then Europe basking in the glory like they do nearly your every year. Wish I could be optimistic but I have seen it go the way of the pear many times and always because of a bloody pesky shortwave.

The short wave is on the 12z it has featured in the last two gfs runs. Also on the ecm. Nick did allude to this happening with the depth of cold so that we could all keep track when the models came out. I would love like every one else for an epic end to winter but we have been here so many times with the models getting into the reliable for it all to go belly up due to a shortwave. I can see this going the same way and watching Europe get the mother load of snow and we are left with dregs. I would love more then anything to be wrong but these pesky short waves are not going to disappear or evaporate ?

The problem I see has already cropped up with the gfs on the 12z and on the 18z with the short wave. The ecm has already picked it up on it. So instead of bringing the easterly in early it will push it back. I think nick alluded to this either last night or today in one of his posts.

It is always these short waves that scupper the easterly as it gets into the reliable time frame and Europe end up in the freezer with plenty of snow while the British isles gets the dregs. So to me this will go the same way met o model good out to 3 days ecm out to 5 days that’s how the met o rate these two models. ‘So as ecm is showing short waves between Denmark and Norway this coming week Garden path comes to mind. And another huge let down of something that could have been epic. It seems no matter how much we have in our favour there’s always something to come along and jaffa cakes on our chips.
