Depends on the melt layer if its wet snow at 200M then sleet 100-150M & rain with odd bit of sleet at 50M Just driven over the top of WK by the radio mast which is 240M Heavy rain & big splodges of sleet mixed in Temp on dash dropped to 2c So I would say FL currently 400-450M Snow level 325M -

Eve - looking at the 18z the core of the cold air has taken another tick North leaving the SE in predominantly -6c Air & very very borderline even for elevated areas. I would hazard a guess that during daylight hours the freezing level will be circa 300M which does noone any favours.... S

Yes staying very cold for a week. Also now GFS is similar to UKMO > GFS only takes 2-3 days to get cold again..

This afternoon / eve sees the -5/-6c isotherm arrive & dewpoints drop towards zero before rising again then dropping off again from the North tomorrow eve. Chance for a few flakes in the showers today..

I know ( for a change ) its a slightly IMBY post but is 100% model related. The high res models now working on T48 & below- HIRLAM goes for 5-6cm over the hills in the SE - maybe low ground as well. Could be higher at the core of the streamer. -
