The reason I'm up at this time of the morning is I've just been woken by a pretty severe thunderstorm and strong gusts of wind as the centre of the low passes over here. Some fairly dramatic pressure drops of over 18hPa/hr currently at 977.2hPa. This is slowing down now as the low and its associated line of thunderstorms and squalls moves away east. The wind should veer NW fairly soon and start to increase markedly. Top gust during the squalls was 55kts=63mph. Had everything from rain, hail sleet and wet snow. Temp shot up to around 6C but is falling back quickly now at 4.5C.

Been breezy here today but nothing compared to whats coming! Gale 8 so far here today with blustery wintry showers. Currently 2.7C/Dew 1C.

I'm not surprised about a potential amber warning, I did wonder if that might be coming. I suspect conditions up here could be quite grim Thurs/Fri with winds of Gale to Severe Gale Force, perhaps touching Storm 10 at times and heavy snow showers. Could be interesting for a wee while anyway! Dewpoint currently around the freezing mark up here so pretty cold already.

Already quite chilly up here and a quick change from yesterday. At 2am this morning it was a balmy 8.9C currently it's 2.9C and falling and the dew point is already below freezing at -0.3C. Could be fun on Thursday/Friday!
