  1. But the trend is increasingly colder as we progress through Jan as per METO and charts to possibly below average. Next week i agree average sometimes cooler temps, we need to get that out the way first... All part of the cooling trend for the cold to hopefully arrive, I work outside myself so completely understand ! I see OON's around to bring some order/humour...
  2. A lovely morning here, went a walk along the High Peak Trail up the road early'er to watch the sun rise.. Clear sky's and light winds with an overnight low of -1.3c. Temp currently 1.8c Dp 0.6c Wind Chill 0.2c North 6mph
  3. Solar Activity remains very low for what is meant to be the peak of this Solar max... (ALMOST NO) CHANCE OF FLARES: Two sunspots facing Earth (AR1934 and AR1936) have 'beta-gamma' magnetic fields that harbor energy for strong flares. Both sunspots have been quiet for days, however, and they show no signs of an imminent eruption. http://www.spaceweather.com/
  4. Me to Karl December seems to have dragged on forever this year with storm after storm, nice to see a change on offering by the experts and now showing in the models for the New Year. We need to remember we are only 3.5 weeks into winter !
  5. GFS continues the trend this morning with the Jet sinking South and High Pressure pushing North. The PV is looking much more seasonal. GFS and ECMWF aren't a country mile apart by the 5th, So more stormy weather to come next week before a change to much colder weather if this trend continues.
  6. ECMWF showing much more seasonal temps into January with the Jet digging South , although a different evolution to the GFS.. Best runs so far this Winter and nice to get some Mild Stormy weather out the way this December..
  7. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-25517466?utm_content=buffer22b1c&utm_source=buffer&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Buffer The Met Office is to begin offering daily forecasts about the weather in space. The 24 hour service will aim to help businesses and government departments by providing early warnings of solar storms that can disrupt satellites, radio communications and power grids. The first forecast is expected to be available next spring. The Department for Business will support the scheme with £4.6m of funding over the next three years. The Met Office will aim to develop better ways of predicting space weather in collaboration with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. UK partners involved in the project include the British Geological Survey, Bath University and RAL Space.
  8. Not a bad run again from the 12z as it's the trends we are looking for.. Jet still sinking south a little and pulling Low Pressure with it bringing much cooler wintry weather to the UK, in line with METO update for temps something more seasonal, even below average during Jan.
  9. This is a weather Forum TX1... Big gust just now 72mph, sounds wild out there,
  10. Wind really picking up here, gusting 57mph with driving rain.
  11. Hi Surrey, it's the 10m here. Click on http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfs/royaume-uni/vent-rafales/3h.htm
  12. http://vimeo.com/82688460 BREAKING NEWS: NASA SURPRISED BY PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE -- 25 DEC 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF3naveUaBU I must say that I find it very odd that when I post a video the screen shot is never displayed any more ? Maybe the mods can shed some light on this matter....
  13. Yes lower down in the valleys it dropped a little cooler overnight.
  14. There's a massive snow patch this morning on the Scottish Mountains.
  15. Merry Christmas all, an overnight low of 0.5c, and a very very light sprinkle of snow.
