We had this one as well, not weather related as far as I can see. Decided to give it 30 mins, had given up and was putting overalls on to go and get generator out connected and started as I work from home when it came back on. Very wet here with just the slightest hint of sleet this afternoon. In all a dull wet miserable day.

Latest updates seem to be slightly colder, but not enough to change the outcome I suspect. Watching the webcams at the NYMR is always interesting in these situations. Grosmont station is ~50m Goathland is ~150m and its often wet in Grosmont and snow at Goathland. More peeved at the groundhog day bin men day, 50mph gusts for early Friday morning, which of course is bin day

Today has been fine and not as cold as forecast, lunchtime bike ride brought SW force 3-5 winds and 7C with quite a bit of sun. The wind is stronger than expected given the slack pressure gradient. The higher than expected temperatures today dont bode well for snow in this area tomorrow. Forecasts for tomorrow here are all about 4C, which given predicted high humidity is just too warm to see snow. So I predict a cold wet day with strong to gale force east winds, 50mph gusts again in some forecasts. Obviously the situation further west may be totally different particularly with elevation. Happy to be proved wrong and be able to post a white over picture, but not a likely outcome I would suggest.

Lunchtime bike ride today, yet again wind was the issue, managed 7.5 miles. Wind SW Force 6-8, gusting 9 on the exposed bits, ran out of time and energy. 10c should feel mild but the strength of wind made it feel cool. Cloudy, but no rain. Wind is the enemy of cyclists, and this winter seems to have had more than its share. We seem to be in another of those stuck patterns that have become more common in recent years.

Rexx We are actually just outside the warning area, on the little nose of land that sticks into the North Sea, not sure if that was deliberate or just the 'quick lets put out a warning but dont check it' scenario. Forecast temps are just a bit too high for snow unless you have significant elevation. Sleet and some slushy stuff maybe. As I said up thread happy to be proved wrong. Other things to consider are dew points, which look to be close to ambient so limited evaporitive cooling, and ground temperature, which will discourage accumulation.

Beverley Lass I think temperatures will be very marginal. Even a slight bit of elevation will make snow more likely. I suspect Holderness and Hull will not see snow, but more than happy to be proved wrong on the day. Higher Wolds and North York Moors will probably be a different story. Yet again wind is the issue here today. 50+mph overnight gusts based on 49mph in Bridlington in the small hours. Forecast is more of the same, really fed up with windy weather.

Not too bad today, fine, some sunshine, but still quite windy. Lunchtime bike ride brought SW Force 5-6 which once out of the village made for heavy going on the 3 mile climb out of the village up on to the Wolds. Temps at 8C but wind made it feel colder. Broken cloud with some sun. This morning Mrs Mike57 took a picture of the contrails. X marks the spot at Bridlington Harbour

Lunchtime today has brought fog and dampness. Couldn't see the windsock at Grindale airfield but guess would be Force 3-4 SSE winds. Feels cold at 7c. All over featureless grey. A better day for cycling in spite of the grimness. The horse shelter has been returned to its proper place, and seems none the worse for its airborne journey. Various bits of minor damage around the village, ridge tiles off etc. I think we had some pretty bad gusts locally, as I said up the thread Brid got 59mph but I think that was exceeded by a fair margin here. Not sure what happened, some local effect I assume. It was dark and nothing to see.

Impacts around here are worse than storm Isha, a large (12ft x 8ft x 7ft) shed has been picked up by the wind and blown over a hedge, several bits of fencing down, and no doubt some other damage will be spotted when I go out at lunchtime. Here storm Isha had an amber warning, and this one is yellow warning, makes no sense, both are of similar intensity, and as such forecast was similar wind speeds.

One of the strikes over the Wolds produced a power dip here, so obviously hit something important, by the time it was over us there was no electrical activity, last strike was over your way, but the hail was notable, the wind howled, and based on wind direction changes I think there may have been some rotation, but it was too dark to see

Well first lunchtime bike ride for over a week, snow and ice kept me off two wheels last week. Still blowing, WSW force 6-7 once out of the village, and although 8c the wind made it feel cold, coupled with frequent blustery showers. Time ran out due to head winds, so only managed 8 miles. Its one of those days where the downhill bits into the wind were slower than the same bits uphill in the opposite direction. A quick look round the village and no major damage, a bit of a garage is blowing in the wind a few doors away, I saw pile of metaL that was a deceased TV aerial, and a fence leaning at a drunken angle, but as I said earlier we didnt get the worst of it here.

Yes wild, but we didn't get the worst of it here, even although we lost power around the same time as @Wold Topper. SW is not the worst direction locally, Storm Barbet, easterly, was far worse here. Even a few miles up the coast Filey got a battering. Bridlington was gusting 59mph just before midnight, I suspect we had a few mph more due to elevation. Will have a look outside when its light, but only obvious casualty is a 'for sale board' opposite, nowhere to be seen now.
