  1. Well it was forecast, but still a shock to the system, arrived back in Scarborough this afternoon to a downpour and an icy northerly near gale. At home now, woodburner lit, and a couple of power dips which indicates some trees down round about.

  2. Absolutely chucking it down here (Yorkshire Coast), a bit unexpected, shower were forecast, but rain was torrential for about 10 mins

  3. Polka dot rain and, I think, a distant rumble of thunder near Malton at  lunchtime

  4. First 'proper' rain since May, steady for most of the day. Had a few downpours during the last 8 weeks or so, but steady rain soaks in. Also much cooler which means the Mike57 household is much happier

  5. Just looking at weather radar and there is a big storm over London, its showing 250mm/hr, if thats correct I would expect to see more reports of flash floods. East Yorkshire weather is boring, grey misty and cold, been like this for 2 weeks.

London does generate its own storms UHI and all think there was a storm in the 70s that dumped 4 inch of rain in a short period of time

  6. Not as bad today as I thought it would be. Actually some sun today. Still cold, didn't quite make double figures again but did I manage to cut the grass.

  7. Oh well, 1 and a half fine days. Sea fret came in about 1.30, now quite foggy and WET. Managed to cut grass today, but ground is still really soggy, this is the most miserable weather-wise spring for some years

  8. Weather wise this has to be the most miserable Easter long weekend for several years, 3 wet days, yesterday was dry but still cloudy, and today the rain has been heavy and persistent all day, and no snow here.

Leaves you yearning for a cloudydaze all this rain ,lol

  9. As others have said what a miserable day, cold east wind and been raining most of the day. Went to Beverley this morning and fields are looking very soggy with large patches of standing water

be alright if it was snow lol

  10. Still bitterly cold, not a lot of snow, but no thaw today. Strong winds have made the wind chill impressive. Our wood burner has been going 24/7, very unusual this time of year, and our woodsheds are starting to look empty after having only used just over half our store by mid Feb.

  11. Snow all gone now, been raining most of the afternoon. Still cold but nothing like last week, quite foggy here tonight.

  12. Chance of thundersnow next week here? (East coast Yorkshire)

My favorite weather, we are quite lucky here. we get more thundersnow here than anywhere else I have lived

    3. Thundery wintry showers

      Thundery wintry showers

Yes I think so- it probably won't be particularly widespread but I expect scattered reports near North Sea coasts, especially north of the Wash.  Wednesday 28th looks the most likely day as there will not only be unusually cold 850hPa temperatures coming in, but a marked upper trough is also forecast, which implies that the air mass could get very unstable as it crosses the North Sea.

  13. -2 here already, much colder tonight

  14. Happy Christmas to everyone, been a rather boring spell of weather recently after the snow on November 30th.

      thanks, merry christmas mate

  15. 13C, strong northerly wind, and raining since 8 this morning, heavy at times. Reminds me of summers in the mid 1960's.

Looks like another pulse of rain is on its way from the radar. In Liverpool tomorrow, think it may be better west of the Pennines.

Up to 50.2mm here now. The wettest day since the day of the floods in June 2007.

  16. Strong northerly wind, very wet with a lot of rain in the night and hill fog at home.

  17. What a difference a week makes, 12C today, persistent rain and an east wind that has now swung into the north and picked up to near gale (I would guess 30mph ish)

Well some places were probably closer to snow than a heatwave today

And it was still raining and had come in foggy when I set off to the station at 6 just not as hard. Getting to York now and it's not raining but very grey and dull.

  18. Storms to the south and storms to the north but still in the no storms club

      NUT

Was the exact same here yesterday in the lowlands. Storms virtually everywhere but never got near me

  19. Storm forecast for tomorrow looks promising, we are right in the middle of the yellow 'slight' area, but we shall see.

Thunderstorms are fickle, and our local climate is heavily influenced by the North Sea. Still in the 'No Storm Club' this year (and never really left it last year, only had a couple of '2 flashes and some thunder' ones)

I think since we have lived here we have had more Thundersnow events than decent summer storms

  20. Quite foggy at home this morning and 15C what a change from yesterday

  21. Hoping for a sea breeze this afternoon. Too hot

      Did it cool off Mike?

Yes a bit, just got back from a short bike ride, not as sweltering as yesterday, cooled off a bit round 3 but still beyond the mike57 household comfort zone.

Lighter sea breeze than yesterday here so it didn't really do much to cool it down.

  22. 26C on the Yorkshire Coast this afternoon. The hottest we have had in few years. Usually by 2 or 3pm a sea breeze kicks in and keep temperatures down at the coast even when its hot a few miles inland.

Neither me or the Mrs like the heat so we have both been hiding out of the sun this afternoon

Yes Mike,we went to Filey today and i would of thought that it would of been cooler on the coast but it was not, then realised that the wind was westerlyi am like a lobster but a brown one lol

      26C currently here

  23. No storms for us by the look of the weather radar (again)

  24. Been a fine sunny day today. SE breeze means not as warm as some areas but still decent. Had a nice walk at Olivers Mount this morning,

  25. First decent rain this morning for several weeks. Fine and sunny now.
