  1. Looks the lightest precip is now entering the pennines- 2c/1c at Newcastle Airport- intense stuff now.. should start as the sun sets around 4.
  2. Beaut of a webcam Alza They should put one up in the scenery of Scotswood or Fenham!!
  3. NMM says about 6- so does the Met, I'd probably say around then, maybe before. Hopefully it has some intensity and cold air wrapped into it by then.
  4. They only have meteograms until Tuesday afternoon- 48 hours after the current?
  5. NMM says snow for much of the region above 200m- Manchester and its surrounding areas are pretty snowy (possibly snow at lower levels in Manchester)- and much of W Yorkshire is under snow. East Cheshire manages snow while the rest of your region has sleet (sleet at first for the coast, turning to rain if you are within, say, 15 miles of it). 2pm today- 6pm today- *click on images to enlarge
  6. Apparently those scrounging Scots are having a vote on whether they want to stay part of the glorious union, or become like one of them awful hell-holes like Norway. Pfft.
  7. ^ the NMM forecasted this- but still held a prediction for light snow all evening, thats the problem with slow-moving bands
  8. Keep the snow reports coming! Envious but loving it... I'll say this quietly but Scotland is the only nation I think I can really accept having snow without wrist-slashing !!
  9. NMM has BOTH bands as ALL snow- tomorrow's band turns sleety near the coast or the north of the region- but Tyne and Wear is safe. The EC hi-res meteogram however has very heavy snow this evening and tomorrow morning, before turning to rain and sleet in the afternoon. Also- I have to note the NMM showed the convective precip out in the North Sea on Tuesday morning... loaded!
  10. Knife-edge synoptics but the bonus is, with the precipitation progged, we would have a hefty amount of snow lying on Thursday if it all goes to plan- so much to decide yet though. Intense! Nowcasting, nowcasting.
  11. Forecasts are for rain and sleet for Sunderland on Monday on the MetO 5 dayer. Sleet and wet snow on BBC.
  12. One problem is the predictions for more sleet than snow from the MetO forecasts- and the signal for the same on the hi-res NMM.
  13. Those waking up in Inverness should do so to some snow, at least a cm or two. Those waking up in the central belt or eastern Scotland (maybe south-western as well) should have a morning filled full of snow- a few cms definitely possible- Falkirk, Stirling, Perth probably the hot spots- plenty of opportunity for Glasgow and Edinburgh though. Should be a highly snowy morning and afternoon for much of Scotland thanks to a very slowly moving band- I'll be envious!
  14. ECM much better than GFS re uppers and flow on the 24, 48, 72 and 96.. after that the GFS is better as the energy doesn't sink below the block- snow on the EC from Monday until Wednesday- probably Tuesday until Saturday on GFS.
  15. EC joins the NAE and UKMO in it's optimistic view pre-96. BBC forecast on the News Channel was interesting- heavy snow for NE England tomorrow evening, and then again on Monday morning, before turning to rain late on- I don't know if that's old or not- but it highlights how close it will be, and how it's what happens on the day that matters.
  16. Snow on Sunday morning/afternoon in Edinburgh on the EC- problem is it's rain for the Monday morning band with temps around 2c. It should mean if you add an extra 100m to that, you are in for a lot of snow.
  17. ECM has -6c uppers at midday Monday- just what we need.
  18. Quite a few gritters out here tonight with the Ice warning in place.
  19. Hi-resolution ECMWF Euro. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/durham#?tab=fiveDay&fcTime=1358035200 Computer generated but looking SUPERB for Durham
