  1. Weak NLC`s have been detected by the KBORN lidar this evening, which has exited the German forum Aktuelle Situation an OSWIN & Co. NLC-Saison 2023 - Seite 6 - AKM e.V. Forum FORUM.METEOROS.DE Page 6 scroll to the bottom
  2. Like buses .. and just to confirm the fluctuation of the mass
  3. There is definitely a relationship with sightings over the UK to daytime signals from OSWIN, which needs more time to refine The full rotation can be checked on its transition by sightings over specific places to the UK. ie, tonight i would expect sightings over Eastern Canada, as there was last night in Saskatchewan, Canada, which related to Tuesdays UK sightings And similarly I would be looking for 'official' sightings from central Russia, 1 day out to check on the expected transition of the full rotation this one is more difficult because where it`s been a poor season for much of the Northern hemisphere there always seems to be huge displays on the camera`s over Russia
  4. I guess we will never no whether the cloud count was broken over the past 4 days due to missing plots .. So fluctuating it is then Edit; Looking at this latest plot which was for Tue night/Wed morning there is a spike of clouds down to 60° Lat and beyond over our area, which would account for the sighting we had here on Tue/Wed
  5. Just some observation Rob and not a crystal ball The best way to check is using the NLCNET website and checking for any sightings, 5 days before NLCNET ED-CO.NET Information on what noctilucent cloud is and how to observe and report sightings. They work on the two date system to cover both Evening/ Morning sightings For example tonights date is 06/07 to which 5 days ago was 01/02 for any sightings over the UK ( theres`normally a photo with the sightings so you can judge validity) At the NLCNET site, go to 'July' at the 'latest sightings' tab, where you will find contributors reports we can see that on 01/02 there was a report from Scotland of a low display on the last full rotation of the mass There's no assurance if the mass is fluctuating, as it is now, according to the cloud counts on the plots from NOAA-21, to which are becoming more randomly published.
  6. Mmmm.... still on Plan A concerning the full rotation I suspect the NOAA -21 plot will show an increase in the mass - when they decide to publish Capella was at 17° to the NNE
  7. Plan A went to plan this morning noticed around 02.00 and lasting till just after 03.00 not the brightest display but had some good structure, stretching past NE at one stage Capella was at 19° to the NE
  8. Could be something starting NNE Time lapsing so my missuses' old phone comes in handy again
  9. Starting showing at Flensburg nothing here as yet
  10. Strong confidence from the German forum this evening, following the signals from OSWIN today Most of the models are showing a break in the cloud from midnight Game on
  11. Just a quick question On the UKV model graphics for Cloud Cover What is the colour of the clouds, Black or White? Edit; something seems to be strengthening and heading our way from Ludlow
  12. After a relatively quiet week of Solar activity the latest NOAA-21 plot as been released And shows a re-intensification of the cloud mass (up to 2186 clouds, almost a record for the season, which looks to be broken by the next plot) Looking at the plot there is a mass around the UK and Scandinavia which would have been last Friday, to which all of N Europe was clouded out The full 5 day rotation of UK sightings, which we`ve noticed over the past 3 rotations was due on Fri/Sat This, with the lack of Solar activity, and being the right side of fluctuating cloud mass. Leaves me confident that the full rotation is still valid, which starts tonight Tue/Wed and on to Wed/Thur Good luck everybody Edit the De-ja- Vue has started with the radar signals from OSWIN and Capel Dewi OSWIN - Mesosphäre - Forschung - Leibniz-Institut für Atmosphärenphysik, Kühlungsborn WWW.IAP-KBORN.DE
  13. They showed up for us around 02.00 at 5-8° to the NNE-NE
  14. Wasn`t really expecting anything, Just a good night to give my new/old camera an introduction to it`s new life This was taken around 03.00, just after moonset with the twilight rays just topping the smut level. Revealing Nunk (apart from showing me that i need to re-clean the mirror)
  15. and a good article that came with at SpaceWeather.com -- News and information about meteor showers, solar flares, auroras, and near-Earth asteroids SPACEWEATHER.COM So glad that someone else is having problems with the anal seeds this season
  16. No NLC`s were recorded 5 days ago Rapidly clearing skies here plus a replacement camera to bed in will keep me occupied till the wee hours
  17. NOAA 21 giveth then NOAA 21 taketh away Hopefully another glitch
  18. Very difficult and a bit guessy.... Alway worth a shot though The only thing iv`e got without the AIM is the 5 day full rotation, which has been a constant for the last 3 rotations, with corresponding radar signals. ....the good thing is the mass is increasing....for now
  19. never noticed that ...just the increase from the 27th (2113 clouds) to 28th (2239 clouds)
  20. Good observations Rob ....and with the latest NOAA 21 showing another increase in the mass of NLC`s around the pole With sunspot AR3354 yet to explode .....plus for the 3rd week on the trot it`s Devaude, for the 'full rotation' day, with the signals from OSWIN and Capel Dewi OSWIN - Mesosphere - Research - Leibniz-Institut für Atmosphärenphysik, Kühlungsborn WWW.IAP-KBORN.DE ...but, whats the chance of any clear skies tonight
  21. Another 03.00 display which checks out nicely for the rotation pace of tomorrows full rotation mentioned earlier still working on my phone snapping technique and some kind of mount will be needed, but not a bad first attempt
  22. yay found the right WB Capella at 15 ° NNE
  23. Seems to have gone hazy all of a sudden, lost vision of Capella now, which is normally clear with just my eyes, I`m wondering if the haze has anything to do with the Canadian wild fires
