  1. Snowed all morning - but it only was only laying in the south and west of the city including the s and w of the city centre. Turned to rain at lunchtime in the city centre. Was a nice surprise to wake up to white (again!) - rarely do transitional events produce wintryness here.
  2. Now we're approaching the end of Feb - one word for this winter sums it up for me: REMARKABLE My observations say it all really:
  3. Sorry this has been missed Rob - will ask our Karl about it
  4. Fair enough SW, but I've lost track of which snow patch is from which snow fall. But at least the thread's been re-invigorated!
  5. Erm..., there is lots of snow from many of the twenty snowfalls all over east central Scotland which I see everyday (see below in red writing). My point was that seeing as there have been many more snowfalls this winter since the 'original' snowfall in the south, the thread may have seemed to have run its course. And since I didn't close it bringing it up several days later to cause a row for the mistaken reason you state seems a bit odd. I do apologise for even suggesting it.
  6. Would be interested to hear if your view has changed after this week's performance. Mine has. The Meto Further Outlook has consistently said the cold would come from the east when none of the models were showing it. And to be honest that's the first time I can remember that this written summary has been so spectacularly right against all the numeric models on the planet!
  7. Yes - and how many times do we have to keep bleeting on that T+144 is the limit of reliability? The next few days would take it to T+192/T+216 - anybody who takes that as true is likely to get as upset as someone relentlessly predicting easterlies every week all winter long. That was why I made the comment TEITS.
  8. Today would have been T+144 since last Sunday Eugene. So what you on about?!
  9. A fresh thread for today's 12Z outputs.
  10. Are we on about Tuesday morning's snow, or Wednesday evening's snow? The answer to which is there are still patches this morning in gulleys etc. in rural areas, even at sea level. Perhaps it's time to close this thread.
  11. It'll last half an hour then it'll kick off again snooz. I don't understand why with a site containg literally hundreds of threads, people still post off topic - sheep I tell ya. Did anyone else note yesterday's completely unexpected ice day at EDI yesterday?!
  12. lol - where've you been? 15 cms in the city (i.e. on the Royal Mile) morning of 23 Dec. And 5-7cms again in early Jan. A colleague of mine did ski to work - down Leith Walk!
  13. Just a worthy retrospective note - yesterday was Edinburgh's 9th ice day of the season. That sneaked in under the forecast radar...
  14. Indeed John and NOAA are excellent at putting out a clear written statement if it there are significant data issues that affect the GFS. If there ain't no statement, there ain't no data issue.
  15. Your wish is my command 19h00 tomorrow: Precipitation moving in from the south and west, but weakening all the time: 2m temps: Dew points: And 850hpa temps:
  16. Heavy snow in Embra this morning - white over from the city centre south and west and even at times at sea level in Leith. Arthur's seat is looking very Alpine - again.
  17. Yes Stuart - was just looking there at the NMM and with temps of -1/-3ºC progged for after dark tomorrow across central Scotland and precipitation heading in from the south and west, it could be an interesting evening. Will post up some of the 12Z NMM charts this evening.
  18. Aye, was a genuine surpise to get up to heavy snow and a winter wonderland this morning. Nice
  19. Yes it's definitely been tweaked, but the word 'severe' has been added to the frosts too. Of course, these forecasts are usually about as useful as a three wheeled skateboard.
  20. [rhetorical question] What do you think Stephen [/rhetorical question]
