  1. Snow in upper Tweeddale this morning - a 'dusting'. Which of course, is inbetween 1cm and a 'smattering'. Third air frost down to -1.1C.
  2. My, my. That's a snowy GFS 12z - a foot of snow by Monday evening (XC Weather estimate ) and five consecutive ice days. By far the wintry-est run so far for the western Borders... Where did all that inland ppn on Friday and Sunday come from all of a sudden?!
  3. Similar position here, with a Volvo xc90 hire car on summer tyres. Already visited my drive's boundary hedge.... Waiting patiently for the cold, and what will only be my 3rd air frost Tuesday am. As for snow, happy to wait and see! One point I was thinking about was whether or not we get a definitive "polar low" from this set up. Of all the years on here, it has to be one of the most talked about phenomena but the least common in the real world.
  4. Same here with my first air frost. Straight on here to report! -0.9C and the world was white.
  5. What an afternoon of torrential, biblical rain. This was the radar as I drove home 3.30pm from Edinburgh south on the A701 - that squall line is on top of the entire road and feeding NE. Relentless. The 60mph road became 35mph with dodging over side to side, swimming pools of standing water - windscreen wipers feeling like they would fly off into a hedge and then the serious usual flood spots where it was walking pace at best, bow waves and on two occasions a genuine moment of uh-ho.... Blimey. Home safe...
  6. Today's shots also from a dog walk! Been between 11C and 12C all day, rain this morning, grey this afternoon.
  7. 10C again. A little sunshine, some drizzle - better than yesterday's heavy rain all afternoon. Next five days, 10C a little sunshine and some drizzle with some heavy rain thrown in. Weekend after next, heavy rain and 10C with some drizzle.
  8. Friends stuck in Millport - no ferries... Meanwhile whilst wild out in the Borders today, the assorted mushrooms/fungi are having a bumper year!
  9. @Mair Snaw - Beware, it never* snows in Perth! *Seems it's only when there's widespread across a large part of the country that the Perth snow shield succumbs.
  10. Dreich, wet morning. Everyone has jumped in their cars... Looking chilly mid week - maybe first air frost:
  11. 0.8°C early doors, and then a bright but quite chilly day up to 13.2°C. Out walking the dog and the forest is alive with mushrooms and fungi - loads of this orange peel species on the path. Pretty!
  12. 24 Sep 2020 -0.7C 27 Sep 2021 -2.7C That's the last two years - so we're getting close! My poor bedding plants and tomats
  13. Two random photos from this week. Windy, dry just now 12.7C at 4pm. Coldest in a long while...
  14. Goodness me! That second video down shows the rotation and debris very well indeed.
  15. Flash bang whallop here a couple of times an hour ago. Edinburgh getting pasted just now!
  16. Thunder all around, but just that gentle type that's bumbling in the distance rather than violent cracks overhead... Ten minutes of big spots and that's been the ppn. Seems all afternoon that proper storms have started more or less overhead and headed north gaining in intensity. Am sure we'll get a bullseye eventually... Quite impressed with my point and shoot pixel phone camera - not bad!
  17. 27°C on the nose here today. A refreshing breeze though Best tomato crop in four years, and lettuce just keeps on giving. Saved a fortune!! (Well, 30 quid)
  18. 26.9C in my back yard. A few decimal points warmer than yesterday, at 25.5C. Scorchio.
  19. I'm wondering for those on the east coast whether haar might come into play Friday and into the weekend... Certainly I have lots of memories of Edinburgh Festival either in heavy rain or haar towards the end of the month in years gone by. 25C in Livi, 13C in the Grassmarket...
  20. Don't forget peat. (Looks around nervously). Love the smell and its heat is in between wood and coal. Warm in the city today - 18C at 9am on the car thermometer. Right by Waverley station all day, so not going to get much respite even at lunchtime. Grumble.
  21. Ha! @mardathaHello Beeglie. Meet Egbert Nobacon! Gorgeous morning, blue skies and sunny and into double figures at 8.30am after an overnight min of 6.3C.
  22. A muggy night with a low of 14.2C. Hate that. Waking up with a sweaty chest and lying on top of the covers.
