I omitted some date records which didn’t seem plausible or were recorded at a station (such as Dawyck Botanic Gardens) with questionable readings.
The date records omitted include:
13 Dec -6.0* Dawyck Botanic Garden 2022
14 Dec -8.6* Dawyck Botanic Garden 2022
I’ve excluded mountain stations such as Cairngorm Summit.
I am not 100% certain about the accuracy of all the date records but I’m confident the majority are valid.
I am 3.5 miles away and only 50m higher than Dawyck up the Tweed and my 2022 readings for those dates were:
13 Dec 2022 min -14.1C max -6.0C
14 Dec 2022 min -10.3C max -7.2C
Seem plausible to me!

Snow line retreated to 300m+ now - after last night's whopping 3cms, but it's still snowing. Not enough left at 9am to make this the seventh official snow day of the season at shuggee towers, but it was the 32nd air frost at -0.1C (so only just) in an easterly gale.

I'm in Edinburgh, driving shortly, and at home it's 0.2C and snowing. A lot further north than advertised! GFS saying snow until mid afternoon tomorrow...

Weird ground conditions today. An inch of water/waterlogged soils on top of deeply hardened ground and unable to drain = boot and trousers mud fest. But actually walking in it not unpleasant. Drizzle 6.6°C.
And of course congratulations @Northern Strath!!

So it'll be Storm Isha! Rattling through the letters this season...
I've got an Isha story, but maybe that requires a pub chat.

A covering here too, adding to the dusting that's been on the ground since Monday, sparkling away under layers of frost. But that makes it my first snow day of the 'event' and sixth of the season. Minimum overnight of -4.0C so 28th air frost.

Currently -9.1C and falling for me. Blue skies and zero wind.
26th air frost of the season.

Poor old Calum on the BBC Reporting Scotland weather at lunchtime explaining that the computer models got it totally wrong for this morning. "Complex feature", is the explanation. Then proceeded to present further computer modelling for this afternoon and evening that's all a busted flush. He must be rather embarrassed as should MeteoGroup.

Lightest of snow showers here, and only the teeniest of dustings above 300m. But it's a start!

06z GFS suggesting that rarest of beasts - a polar low at T+192 onwards sinking south over the west coast. Quite the turn around from yesterday's doom and gloom (in the other thread).
On the analysis of northerlies, my experience is it depends on the longevity. A 36 hour 'cold blast' means showers to the north only. But if a northerly becomes embedded and stays around for 3 days+ anything can happen anywhere - as with late Nov 2023.

-8°C uppers is the threshold for lying snow In Leith. Tell em that'll do!

Temp hovered between 0.2C and -0.2C overnight, with a slight breeze and this morning everything is bone dry and crackly. Obviously still areas of fields with standing (frozen) water, but all the wet dampness that has been apparent for weeks has gone. That's my twenty second air frost too!

Just a shame it's a potential warming on the other side of the planet Big Gally!
Still, I do very well out of strong showery cold NW'lys that crushed PV might just deliver that... And I think Glasgow does too!

No air frost last night, but 1C and a developing southerly down the Tweed valley, which amplifies it quite a bit, meant it was bloody freezing! Snow level at dawn around 400m, so white tops just now and with heavy rain later the river system is going to busy.
