Over on the other thread we now have knocker comparing me to Foster, hmmm now let me see do I have a misinforming blog of my own where I only allow one opinion. The laughable part of all this is how not one of the so called " only interested in the science types " has condemned blogger Foster for his attacks on a climate scientist. Oh the irony of it all!
-
But who are these misleaders GW, I know of none who think that CO2 isn't a greenhouse gas, nor do I know anyone who claims that CO2 hasn't had an effect on rising temp. So which people are we talking about?Surely by that yardstick SI folk purposefully misleading the public over the matter of current climate changes ( and impacts) are "Climate Misleaders"? This is why I found it a perfect descriptor of the very people that most inflame me when Prof Francis coined it over a year ago. Are there any other common nouns that you take issue with? EDIT: For instance folk trained and employed by the Church to minister to the faithful are known as 'Vicars' , that is the name for the folk trained and employed to do this job. The folk employed to 'mislead ' the public over the issue of climate change are now known by the group name "Climate Misleaders"....easy eh?
-
Simple if you are denying the pause Dev, but I wouldn't approve of it as a general terminology. What I don't understand is why misleaders is offensive but deniers not. Perhaps SI can explain? Oh, and fwiw, I use neither...

I would agree with that for tomorrow, maybe parts of Northern England will see snow to lower elevations for a while before turning back to rain. I think next week will mostly be a mix of rain/ sleet for many in England and Wales with snow mostly over higher ground and Scotland at lower elevations. Any snow in England/Wales will be of a passing nature as I expect too see those uppers modified nearer the time. Not quite true Joe, the colder uppers are set to mix out much quicker now and other than on the high ground and maybe for a little while lower down most precipitation will fall as rain as per the forecast I have just seen on the BBC.

GW. Your use of the word misleaders is highly inflammatory as I've pointed out several times, now I know Foster likes to use this terminology also and much of your posting style and indeed many on the Manmade thread reflect his viewpoint on all things climate. Did you get your daughter to reflect the sceptic views of climate scientist such as Judith Curry I wonder.

Little ol lambs tails spotted earlier this week, this is the earliest sightings around here since 89.

The deniers of the pause in the other thread seem to be getting rather annoyed by my a accusations at fuzzy Foster, they are asking for proof yet fail to see the irony in their request. Read his blog people all the proof you want is there, he is nothing but a political activist with an axe to grind against anyone who dares to question the consensus, hence why Judith Ciurry who has forgotten more than blogger Foster will ever learn in a lifetime is in his line of fire. How some of you can keep a straight face when accusing sceptics of demearning the science and scientist and then go about defending and applauding Foster for doing just that, is a little rich too say the least.

Still an awful lot to be decided on from midweek onwards, what worries me is how the ECM has been way to progressive with heights to our East over the last month or so, but is now the least progressive of the models. Wouldn't it be just sods law if it's calling this one correct now.
-
It was pants here as it was mostly those from Central England eastwards who saw much snow, now Feb 96, 79 are more like it.Did it snow in Jan 1987?
-
Lol, they certainly are shooting themselves in the foot on t'other thread, now instead of maybe looking at Fosters writings and his political leanings they expect me to spoon feed them. Sorry boys but if you can't read between Fuzzy's lines and see for yourself that this blogger is nothing more than a blagger, then being spoon fed is the least of your problems. Wise up and stick to reputable scientists without agendas who just present the science, there are plenty of AGW scientist who I respect who talk and present science as it should be, leave the Fosters out of this your doing yourselves no favours.

Knocker, you find it odd at the company Judith Curry keeps, yet find nothing wrong with the comments mad by Foster or the company he keeps. He's a charlatan of the highest order and has to masquerade behind an alias so he can pump out his obvious political viewpoints in the good name of science.
-
The activist over on the other thread are really going for Judith Curry now, she's the equivalent of the anti Christ for them and must be exorcised at all cost. Funny how they are all up in arms when sceptics have a go at the likes of Mann and Hansen and cite them as being untouchable as they are honest scientist, yet here they are doing a number on what they see as a rogue agent.

Later some okay synoptics from the ECM but because of its earlier trend any deep cold has long since gone ne. Overall a disappointing ECM operational run, it might have looked good compared to whats been dished up so far this winter but compared to some of the other models its like budget fish fingers compared to Dover Sole.
I'd advise people to wait till tomorrow before getting at all excited about snow prospects, the ECM is just a couple of more phasing issues away from no slider at T168hrs.
We can just hope that its at one extreme the UKMO and JMA at the other and at worse we get a blended solution which would be okay.
Wise words Nick, but do drug addicts wait around for their next fix. I think a wintry spell for some looks pretty nailed, now where that some will be could range from the bulk of the UK to the far NE of the country. What intrigues me is how we are seeing each attack from the West sliding further and further under the block, is it only a matter of time before we see a fully fledged easterly?

It looks like the knives are out in AGW blogger land as that unbiased and highly imaginative site Tamino sets it sights on Judith Curry. Now who would you believe a respected and open minded climate scientist or a political motivated blogger?

Excellent post and great to see you posting again on a regular basis TEITS, as usual it's informative for both newcomers and old hands alike. Hope your keeping well.Morning. The simple answer is us members can afford to be less cautious than the Met O. Take todays output for example. Now for days I have been saying the Met O forecast appears out of kilter with the output and this is especially true today. What is happening in the output is the models have backed away from what appeared at first to be a brief E,ly followed by milder W,lys. The output has been trending towards a more prolonged E,ly due to the block being stronger followed by sliding LPs. Take for example the ECM at +168. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1681.gif What we have here is a low pressure moving SSE rather than W-E. This is a snow event as the fronts will be encountering cold air already over the UK but due to the track it will also pull in colder air on its N flank. Another trend im beginning to see is at +240 the models are wanting to increase heights towards Greenland. So in summary the main theme of todays output is a stronger block to our NE, Sliding LP systems.

I'm slowly coming around to the fact we maybe looking at a pattern change to something colder next week, it does look messy though with quite a mixture of rain, sleet and snow. I'm not so sure on the MetO medium term forecast as I feel they are underplaying the potential for cold and snow in the 7-15 day timescale, a few more positives over these last 48 hours for cold now we just need to see these at +72 hours.

Snow, Sleet, Hail, Rain and Lightning here, none of this was forecasted for lower levels today, current temp 3.2c.

they disprove of any dissenting voice regardless of their expertise in climate science, and yet approve of all non scientific findings by the like of the WWF and Greenpeace.I see the other sides counter is to deride the man and bring up old hidtoric conjecture that has no proof but relies on unabased character assasination to disprove someones views unbelievable

No us up North, as we have to endure copious amounts of rain year after year season after season.Rain doesn't bother me in winter because as long as its cold rain because when your wearing a coat your ok, that said it doesn't excite me either. I think that should read 'us brits' TBH.
-
All pay homage to the rains, again! Yes Feb91 us northerners view rain as part and parcel of everyday life so having to discuss potential rains in the MOD thread is a little taxing to say the least. This attitude against people looking for snow and not paying attention to rain is getting on my wick now. WOW its going to rain, it rains in my location about half the days in the year, granted not as heavy as lately but anyone saying this winter hasn't been boring I cannot believe, we had it all the way through the 90s and 00s so whats interesting about it????

Ibdeed Steve, I think I was a tad careless with my choice of words.HI S.Inqu- I think its a case of choose to ignore as opposed to not care. I must admit whilst I have seen the flooding footage on TV ( & im sure its very bad for those in it) I am left feeling a little bit- is that it,...... I know, for the minority of people its a horrific experience- however the same can be said for all types of weather extremes in the UK,- be that snow, rain, FOG, lightning etc- All scenarios have the ability to produce life threatening conditions, & the weather will be what it be without our impacts- Its been a long mild wet winter & people are now skipping over the storms & rain- no matter how impactful they look in search of something more seasonal which for some just include some dry & cold weather- s Ironically the type of weather that people look for on here & regularly want to see happen is as life threatening ( if not more so ) for more of the general public that loaclised flooding...

And most people in Britain are gratefulSure, those affected by flooding don't want more rain, but most people don't want any snow (or cold weather) at all!Edit: and 50% of the UK has seen snow. That 95% of the population live in the other 50% of the country (where snow isn't normal) is besides the point. I think more than 50% of the UK will see snow in the next week. But not me.
But we don't care about most people in Britain as this is a weather forum and most on here in winter do care about cold and snow.

Well we are are constantly told record warm November record Warm December bla bla bla..NASA AND NOAA confirm worlds temperatures are at standstill do Global Warmiing supporters understand the truth ? http://t.co/Ii5wYIH2My
But Keith in order to get tons more funding the lie has to continue, hence the big news regarding the heat in Oz being down to AGW when the record books show the same weather patterns from yesteryear. Remember the amount of jobs created by this runs into the millions, and like any addiction you'll see lies and deception continuing so that it can feed the habit.

Assuming the JMA solution doesn't happen I think coldies will be best looking to the NW for cold air and potential snow
Indeed, forget looking East anything cold and wintry appears to my eyes to be heading from the NW.

I'm sometimes think one or two are on the wind up in here, today being a good example when the UKMO was showing a fantastic output for cold and snow, then we had one or two saying that was out of kilter with the GFS and ECM, so it must be wrong. Now we have the UKMO showing the Atlantic bursting through and the GFS showing a cold, unsettled and potentially snowy end to next week and those one or two have now backed the UKMO with the usual told you so comments.
