    Today brought nothing more than overcast sky's and yesterday was a major fail as a band of heavy rain imbedded with thunderstorms managed to kill off all electrical activity about 10 mins before reaching me. But it is what it is, maybe next year will be better? This years summer plumes seemed to contain lots of dry air which didnt help our chances. I know you guys down south seem to have had a better year so maybe i should stop whining and move down there 😆

    Hopefully we can get one last shot at convective activity at the end of august or maybe september as i really dont want to completely give up on this year before summer is done.

    2? I would give it a 0, considering the amount of hot days and record days, I would expect a lot more. Even Las Vegas has had more thundertorms, the weather keeps getting worse, no snow, no rain, no thunder. 40c which even Australians say is hot. All for a few hours of moderate rain.

    People got rain! We have had nothing here though, I haven't been checking the radar as I thought storms were not going to be around until later this afternoon but when I did check and put the animation on it seemed like rain had gone over here but my guess is it evaporated before hitting the ground as it was only light blue to blue.  That is going to be one of the most mental summers for heat and it goes out without even a drop of rain here if that was meant to be the storms for today, lets hope that wasn't it and more form soon........  😟

    Yes Mike that's the one.  It started about 10.45, daughter and I were up on Blakelow Road for a while watching a perfect ballet dance of purple and lilac anvil crawlers, as it came west, it started to move overhead, the booms became louder, the graceful crawlers turned into orange C-C's, at this point we hastily drove home, then all hell broke loose.  Blinding white flashes, I remember hearing a 'hiss' just before one of the flashes, mega booms of thunder, continuous strobe lightning that lasted well into the early hours.  Never witnessed a storm like that before, never heard a hiss before.  Will be etched in my memory for years to come. 

     

     

    Ive never heard a hiss but I have heard a snap, I was in Mexico and a tree exploded showering us in bark, closest lightning strike ive ever seen, I felt the heat from it and for a few seconds I thought it hit me. Serves me right for walking outside during a thunderstorm like an idiot. I could hear the thunder for a solid 30 minutes before.
