Looking like a bust tonight, tomorrow eve, overnight looking better.
The stuff tonight, isnt actually supposed to kick off until the early hours of tomorrow morning, if we are to go by the NAE etc. So dont lose hope yet
-
I reckon in a couple of hours the cells will pop up in the channel I think, I have a feeling it will!
-
Does that mean you are seeing lightning or something elsePs it is still cloudy here
Not yet we are night, AcCas clouds are normally a good indication of some thundery stuff could kick off later and that the mid to upper air is unstable.
Normally an indication for possible Elevated Thunderstorms later on, but we will have to wait and see
-
Another interesting thing to note is that, our Dew Points are actually really quite high
Dew Points around the IOW
Newchurch/Sandown 15.0'C
Newport 13.2'c
Freshwater 14.6'c
Wroxall 14.6'c
Bleakdown Near Godshill 13.8'c
It really is beginning to feel really quite muggy out there! Fingers crossed People

Current Weather now: Well the Sky has gone a little milky with some mid to quite high level, Alto cumulus, cirrostratus and there is also some Cumulus about. There is still some brightness around, along with a Light to moderate breeze too.

Current Weather Now: The Sun is out shining away, which is nice to see with not much in the way of cloud about anymore, however there is still a very fresh breeze about, which just takes the edge of the temperatures off a little.

Weather Report Isle of Wight 23:35pm:
Today's Overall summery: Well its been a rather interesting day, the day started mostly cloud, with just the odd glimpse of the sun just before 9:30am. Then the cloud thickened and was eventually under full cloud cover. However with this came a lot of low cloud, mist and Drizzle. The cloud was in for the rest of the day.
Into the Afternoon, a couple of heavy showers developed ahead of the main band of rain from the South West, one of the showers was extremely heavy at one point, which was pretty cool too see. However after I finished work, the main band had just set in, and unfortueatly I had to play bowls in this. As the Evening went on, the rain got really quite heavy, and combined with this was some very strong winds, touching almost gale force at times. It wasn't pleasant at all to be honest.
Current Weather Now: There is still a lot of cloud about, and there is still drizzle faliing, infact heavy Drizzle. There is also still a rather strong wind too. Apart from this, it is fairly mildish too.

I remember the crickets singing loudly on warm nights, at Ventnor i think. This was about 30 years ago when i was a kid on holiday there. And also seeing distant lightning.
Living here on the IOW, I do sometimes feel quite spolit with the views we have because sometimes we can see Lightning miles and miles away, when the visability is right we have even been able to see the distant flashes from storms that is in North France. And Ventnor is one of the best places for it, I work in Ventnor and I love it there!

Hi Guys, My friend has put up another Lightning photo from the other day, and said it would be great if I could share it with you all again

All I can say is...plume.
Been just the once, ages ago mind - also if i'm led to believe it certainly has it's own 'micro' climate too..
I actually really do believe we have our own micro climate, it always seems to do something different and more unexpected over here than what the mainland has a lot of the time. Maybe its just where we are located, but I have no Idea haha.
Its a beautiful place - I camped there for a week a few years ago - very relaxed and so much empty space I thought. Would be great in the wintertime when most of the tourists have left. Pity about the bridge link though. True islands don't have bridges.
I agree about the bridge, I wouldnt want a bridge over here because it would sort of ruin it abit
When was the last time you saw a cracking thunderstorm ?
